It's 6' by 6' by 5' less the slanted part, I believe is the size. You can buy a emergency light from Harbor Freight to mount on the wall if you run power to the cellar. I put one in mine, flooding the stair well whenever the power went out!
I believe that is what you have to do now to get the FEMA money.

Since I put you on it! When can I move in?

Glad to see he got you fixed up! Just remember, if it leak's or caves in, I didn't tell you to call them!

Rat, if you get one of us on your ass, you've got problems. Two of us, and it's goodbye.
Tread carefully!

Hey that's cool buddy.  What is this FEMA money you speak of ?

Depending on the money available, the area you are in, etc. FEMA will pay up to $2000 for an approved storm shelter being installed. I applied in Sept of 99, got approved for the funds in March of 2000, then had the shelter installed in May of 2000. I got the check from OKC (they administered the FEMA funds) in July of that year.
Call your local FEMA office and find out if those funds are available to your area.

After seeing this post, I called the state emergency management department and they said that you had to be registered by Feb. 2003 to get the money. BUT, they are applying for some more money because of the big storms up by Delaware and if there is any left over they will use it for this program again. The lady told me to be watching in the newspapers for notice that they have money available for this again.
