Too many snobs live in Edmond! Doing volunteer work in Edmond with LD kids, I've seen a kid brought to school in a limousine wearing shorts, sandals, and a T-shirt in JANUARY! Coaching kids and playing sports against Edmond teams in Edmond was always a joke - the referees were so openly prejudiced it was pathetic. One of the kids I coached for years moved to an Edmond school system. He was a National Merit Scholar, All State, graduated Summa Cum Luade from NCU. He refused to take on snobbish airs and was actually ostracized for his choice of friends in high school. He lived in Glen Eagles and ran with some kids from much less affluent neighborhoods. His parents were quite disturbed when his girl friend broke up with him because on his "tacky" friends. Lots of money in Edmond and those who control it think very little of the working class! Not everybody up there is a snob, but far too many! I've always thought it best to judge a person by their heart and not by what they have in their wallet. And in dealing with lots of "upper class" people from Edmond over the years - youth sports, community service, business concerns - I can honestly say I don't like that town. I have some very good friends who live there and a few of them agree with my attitude toward Edmond. Sorry, but you asked and I ranted!
