Question for the experts among us..

What is the law for transport of firearms in the commonwealth if you are not enroute to or from a hunting spot, range or gun store? I.e. trunk guns - I'm talking rifles, not pistols.

Loaded not loaded? Dis-assembled but loaded, OK? Ammo in same case as weapon or must magazines be physically separated from and locked away?

If VA is an OPEN carry state what is the line between open carry and "brandishing a firearm"?
i.e. would it be legal to have a pistol, pistol-carbine or rifle sitting on your car's seat, loaded?

Or would that be considered "brandishing"?

I've read the laws but unless I'm missing something they don't specify scenarios involving rifles in the trunk for example or pistol-carbines (pistol ammo, but rifle length barrels)... and the whole brandishing thing seems very subjective.... almost something you could nail a neighbor on with little or no evidence.

Thanks for the tips, advice, or redirection to where I can find an explanation for the details..
