Decent show. Though $8 was too much for the number of vendors there. No Georgia Arms. I'd say it was Black Rifle Friendly.

I want to know who those Virginia Defense Force guys were. Are they officially sanctioned by the state?

I was thinking about going up to the show, how would you compare it to the show at athe Showplace in Richmond?

It seemed smaller. As a show, it wasn't worth $8.

I go to the gun show mainly to support the idea of a gun show. I just wish there were more good dealers like QA, Dark Sun, etc.

So was Dark Sun thelr? I have been thinking about picking up a Molsen Nagant just to play with.

Yep, Dark Sun is there.

Was it worth it?  For me, it was.  But I'm sick of driving down to Richmond or up to Chantilly for a show.  Comparable to the Showplace?  It wasn't quite as good, but like I said, it was worth it for me.  I picked up an M44 in decent shape.  There were fewer vendors than in Richmond, but I think there were too many for a venue the size of this place.  The parking lot was completely full and it seemed like the rows of tables were too close together - I had trouble getting through the aisles in the vicinity of some of the more popular tables.  I was definitely pleased, overall.  Again, it's a ten minute drive from driveway to parking lot for me, though.

The turnout was spectacular. I arrived at 0910 and the parking lot was about full. I left about an hour later and there was still a line out the door.

They're one rung under the VA National Guard, from what I remember.  www.virginiadefenseforce.org  Met a guy once that was going to sell me an M1 carbine.  Later he decided not to because he needed a rifle for his VDF drills.

Do not confuse them with, as some have, the Virginia Citizen's Defense League.

Where was this show held in Fredericksburg?

It was at the Expo center in Central Park.

It was alright not too much there I was interested in. I was looking to get some Georgia-Arms ammo but they were a no show. Hopefully they will be there next time if they have another one. I guess I wil just have to orde my ammo form them the old fashioned way.

I went today, about an hour after the ND they had.  Apparently some dealer gave an HK91 or clone to someone, who inserted a loaded mag when the dealer wasn't looking.  Put a hole in the ceiling, no one hurt, but both the clown and the dealer were banished.

But, the show was pretty successful for me.  Traded $360 and a beat-up Makarov for a low-serial # Springfield M1 Garand

Maybe it wasn't accidental?
Fast way to get a show run out of town... or forced to find a new venue.
Just a thought... I put nothing past anti-gun militants.

I got there about 1:00, so it happened about noon.  I suspect we'll read about it in the paper....

No idea.  Overheard the backstory while I was waiting for the guy to come back so I could buy his Garand.  Two other dealers were talking about it, all they said was the dealer's gone, and the T-shirt lady said he was a really nice guy and usually very good about that stuff.

We went to the show and we were there when the shot was fired. Maybe around 1 PM. We knew what what that sound was & did not stick around after it happened; we were on the way out anyway. Amazing stupidity.

I'm sure there was. I saw a couple of ammo dealers there, but I was not looking for ammo at the time.

I'm headed out there in a couple of minutes.  I'm going with some other folks one of whom commented that due to the ND and ceiling shot, at least we'll know if its raining outside!

Made it up there (from Hanover).... took for ever to find the F*&%ing place!!! Pickeed up a Nagant from Dark Sun to play with, Man those 7.62x54r bullets are BIG!! Saw an upper at Fulton Aromery I wish I would have bought now! Felt tight there not much room between tables. Not as good as the Showplace, but better than the fairgrounds.

not bad at all, here are my amatuer reflections:

not enough bulk ammo dealers.
too many dealers there just taking the opportunity to put their stock (accesories, parts, crap) out, mark it up 10% and wait for the uneducated to come by it.
nice enough bathrooms (hey I made like three trips, so it matters!).
parking was tough, but no spot was too far from entrance, so kinda good.
Some rifles were incredibly overpriced, most were MSPRP, but there were a nice amount of black rifles.
GREAT knife dealer!
a few too many airsoft dealers for me.
the folks by the sword dealer were hilarious.  straight out of a star wars convention.
When me and my two fellow travelers left, the number of jews there went from three to zero.
nice amount of handguns too, but the XD45acps went QUICK.
I would go again and often, but flyer said next one was in july.

After which, apparently, somebody pulled a trigger!!

I remember when local gunshows also prohibited the carrying of ammo into the show.  Guess we’ll be seeing those signs again.

The guy with the loaded mag should have left in handcuffs!!

I couldn't make it Saturday so I got there about 10:15 Sunday.  Took 2 hours 15 minutes from VAB.  I had $$$ that I won in Atlantic City at the Craps table that was burning a hole in my pocket.  I just knew if I didn't go, there'd be something I wanted and I would regret it.

And boy was I right.  I almost bought the HV51 short barreled .308.  But I found what I've been looking for, for quite some time.  A used Colt M6920 LE M4A3 in good shape.  They had it marked $1200 but since I had cash I got it OTD for $1150!  Considering tax would have been about $55 I got it for just under $1100.  I'm very happy.  Was surprised that Georgia Arms wasn't there.  Didn't see anything else that was particularly exciting.  Pondered over a Kimber Custom II for $549 for a bit.
