Anyone else in Virginia like to shoot the evil black bolt actions?

What ya got?

Both of my PSS's are .223 & .308 Ackley Improved now by B.C. Spencer.

Sadly, they shoot better than I can hold them.

Ed, I still owe you a drink.

My one rifle is a Remington VS converted to a tactical rifle, basic black and total overhaul. Rechambered 308 match, my other rifle I am building is a Old 700 Remington, chambered in 7mm Remington mag.

Very nice! I am debating on the AI stock for the 7mm, I have to wait until my barrel gets here and see what I have after it is on.

Live in the Northern Virginia area, would like to start up a Virginia F class team for next season. Mostly 600 yard matches.

Count me in on 600yd matches!  I have a number of bolt guns but I tend to favor one built by Norm Chandler.

You are correct!  And a tack driving Steyr it is!  This thing is so much better than the PSS I once owned that I can hardly believe it.

Truth be told, I think my PSS was a dog.  Even with Match ammo, I couldn't get the thing down to MOA at 100, no matter what I did.  The Steyr will do that with three different hunting loads and a 2.5x forward scope.

My bust LOL F for weapons ID, just got a mauser from a guy and mounted it in a stock that looks just like that you have. I have no idea who even made his stock, but it is a spittin immage of your rifle photo.

Damn..I'm jealous...I got stock, and tried to do the bolt conversion on my 48A.  I ended up stripping the threads in the bolt, so I sent it out to have the handle welded on.

They welded it on ok, but the rifle doesn't go all the way into battery...firing pin doesn't make contact with the primer.  So, the rilfe is useless 'til I get the bolt redone, or buy another bolt, both of which are out of the budget right now.

But it looks cool sitting there lol.

EDIT: damn, I thought that was a Mauser as well...the stock is the spittin' image of the one they sell for Mausers.

Does the Mauser have a bipod and spare mag holder?

Nope, sure does not. It is a very basic stock that does dress it up a bit but nothing like a Steyr
