Recently I visited Washingtons Hometown page to find out what was up with tweak. The things that make this board fun and being a part of a shooter forum group were all there. It seems that most of what is on our IL board is discussion about threats to something we as a group enjoy very dearly. Blago this.. Whats the law with that.. and questions about transportation resitrictions that are rediculous. 24 hour this..  Foid that..

I am going to actually email or write and put my two cents in with the Gov.
any leads on this would be appreciated. If this bill is passed I'm going back to MO.

maybe I'm just frustrated and seeing the down side, but the AWB dying was such a shock to me that I don't want to go back to the dark ages. I can't in good concionse pay a local gov that doesn't represent or care about my supposed 2ND ammendment RIGHTS.

Sorry for the rant!

I want to hear what everyone else thinks.

Blago doesn't give sh!t what you or I think.  He has king Dicks agenda to ram down our throats.  The only way stop the threat is to vote the bastards out of office.

You will be waisting your time. My Father-in-law lived in the district (Chicago)that Blowgo represented while in the House of Reps. My Father send him numerous letters in response to Blowgo's activity during his stint as a Rep. Basically, my Father received one letter that pretty much told him that he was wrong and that guns are wrong, period. Blowgo is a zealot about gun-control and he will not see any other view. I just can't wait to see how this all blows over for him in the next election, downstate helped him win, I wonder what will happen this time?

I totally agree.  It's downright disgusting the state of affairs.

We have to fight tooth and nail in what seems like a never-ending struggle against the Libs, whilst people from many/most other states enjoy the liberty of "worrying" about scheduling range days, where they are going to come up with the money for another case of ammo, or figuring out what will be the next item to add to their collection.

Instead, we Illinoisans are stuck spending much of our time: (1) trying to follow the complex maze of laws and regulations, (2) keeping a low profile lest we become the target of the gun grabbers, and (3) keeping watch and being on the defensive from the gun grabbers' propoganda and hidden agendas.

yeah i'm in the operating engineers and i was talking to some co workers that are staunch democrats, but are almost straight conservatives.  and i was laughing my ass off because this guy that had just been bitching about how the state hands out link cards hand over fist to anyone and everyone that claims to need them and bitched about how minorities get extra privileges and are taking this country over turned right around and said "i vote democrat for jobs".  i said, "yeah the job market has been booming the last couple years.  hell that stupid sumbitch in chicago has run every major trucking firm out of the state with taxes.  but yeah jobs are what democrats are for."  stupid fucker doesn't get that the same people that the fuckin' unions endorse "for jobs" are the same ones that hand his money to inner city projects and other stupid bullshit for minority only benefit.  he doesn't even know it, but he's voting for the communist party.  am i out of line on this?  i'm all for helping people that need it.  but i don't see how minorities should get extra help on top of extra help.  in other words i think jesse jackson is a dumb fuck-there that sum up my thoughts....

Don't think of writing letters to Blago and Daley a waste of time.  If it does nothing else, it gets it off your chest.  If they get enough letters, maybe they will tone down their lies.  If they don't get any letters, they will think the people love them and they will spew their vile crap even more.

Write letters to your newspapers.  Sometimes they print our side of the story.

We all need to do this!

Dems ran the state of new orleans for how many decades and couldn't get any economic growth (lived there once, it was bad in 84 and its bad bad now, even without Katrina it was bad bad) Instead the Dems brought in casinos into new orleans and it just bleeds people who can't afford to get addicted to gamblin in the first place...casino does not = economic development duh he
So we get all the social ills from gamblin and we're not allowed to defend ourselves...typical liberals.

And pro-union Democrats turn around and blame Republicans for the export of manufacturing jobs. I bought my kid a tv for Christmas and was shocked at how cheap it was. Televisions were much more money twenty years ago then they are today. Let me tell ya something, the reason no one can afford a house anymore is because union carpenter scale is $37 per hour in these parts, now add in union labor costs for the rest of the trades and that amounts to a fortune. This is why the days of the 1500 sq ft ranch house is over, no margin left. So, you buy an insanely overpriced townhouse or a very pricey custom home which is a laughable piece of shit built out of styrofoam.

Take a look at a union built home when it is ten years old, it will show the garbage it is. I am a small contractor and you can call it sour grapes but i will tell you there ain't a small non union contractor out there paying $37 per hour for remodeling carpenter, which is a much more difficult end of the trade. It's one thing to build a new home in the middle of a field from the ground up, it's an entirely different thing to perform structural surgery on a home someone is already living in. No homeowner is willing to pay union scale once they are in the home, it would be outrageously expensive and the little guy down the street will undercut the bid everytime.

Unions are why cars are so expensive, your garbage pickup is so expensive, so on and so on. So any union worker making union scale is sorta chasing his tail. Sure the hourly wage is there, but because of unions, everything is unaffordable. We are robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Pensions? Good luck. I doubt there will be a labor union pension left in ten years. Your money is better off in a Roth IRA. I don't begrudge the everyday union worker, I understand why you do what you do. BUT this country would be a far greater economic power if the unions were gone, and life could be affordable again.

This is not 1920 anymore. We have labor laws and we are very litigation happy in this country. Unions are no longer needed, only an impedance to America economically keeping up with emerging economic super powers like China. Think China is ever gonna have a union of any type? Guess again. If things don't change in this country, we will be broke before we know.

Rant switch now off.

IBEW21 here... I hold a card not by choice but by reqirement. Although with the management in my company perhaps it is a necessary evil. Perhaps "double edged sword" would be a better way to put it. I see a union that is supposed to be a fair one yet the back room deals are atrocious. Not to mention the managers on power trips looking for an opprotunity for the (feather in their cap) i.e. to fire an employee.

On the other side of the blade I see the union as an agent. One like you would see in professional sports. Your agent bargains for the best possible price for your skills. Herein the problem lies. These unions are filled with people that want to do the least amount of work for the most money possible. This queers the image of a true "craftsman". I for one take pride in my work, even when other do not.

As I talk with my coworkers, I find more and more of them voting for the (R)'s. These guys are hunters, devout christians, and fiscal minded people. They see the the err's in the (D)'s ways. As long as the Dems continue to contradict themselves us Rep's will eventually turn this state (I hope).

well with me, i hold a "B" card.  i'm not a journeyman-i work at one plant all the time and the people that own it are good hearted people.  i'd work for them in a heart beat with no union at all.  they sold our local hall 965 about 20 or 30 acres of ground to build their training center on and to use training equipment on for $1.  that's right $1.  now do you think if the 15 of us at the plant under the contract wanted to strike the union would back us?  yeah right.  i dunno-we've got a good contract and all, but who knows.  i know what it pays now and that suits me fine.  it's better than working at Menards.

Unions are an anachronism.  Their day has passed.

Our company was union. During the Reagan boom years the labor shortage in my field was so bad we went non union, hired, schooled and trained service techs in house ourselves.

Through some legal machinations the union was able to force their way back into our company. It was cheaper to fold than fight.

The guys all bitch about the loss of the profit sharing program and the high deductable on the health insurance.

A skilled motivated worker has no need of strongarm middlemen to help them make a living.

IAFF Local 3271 here.

15 years ago our town refused to negotiate with our FF reps because they didn't have a designated bargaining unit. They used to give the guys "bonuses" when they'd bitch about pay so most of them would shut up. Of course, bonuses aren't pensionable under ILPC.

IIRC, our old top out pay (1994) was 32k... after 30 years.

Combine that with the selective discipline and unofficial perks being offered to the sucks, and you can imagine the great working conditions we had.

So the choice was offered of independent association or a Local of the IAFF.

Local won.

Two years later, after much contention, and challenges of the validity of the organization by the City (that they insisted on) , the Local was recognized, and the inceptor contract approved by a federal arbitrator.

The saddest part?

Our town prides itself in being the "Democratic Jewel in the crown that is Lake County"

Unions have been rendered impotent by much of the "employee empowerment" attitude of the last several years - but the public sector managers are more like the "robber barons" of the late 1800 than modern moguls like Perot or Gates.

We've had $450/hour labor attorneys for the City sit across from us at contract talks and tell us "Yeah, we know you're underpaid and understaffed, and it's not safe working conditions.... so?" and smirk at us, then try to reimpose residency before they get into their BMW Z series to drive home to Barrignton (Richville).

It seems that the guys who got outsourced by the labor-management improvements in the private sector all moved to the publc sector, and are up to their old us v. them tricks.

I have known several scale Union Carpenters that cannot lay out, cannot trim, cannot cut a roof or a stair stringer. How they call themselves Carpenters is beyond me. More like Socialist protected nail pounders.

It has been done for them by way of the political positions their families have been in. Little dick has always had a security detail behind him. Big dick made sure no one could get within 3 feet of his spawn. Not sure of blago when he was growing up but I am sure it was close to the same.....Easy to kick us in the teeth and down play the importance of guns in this country. state and city when you have platoon stregnth or better security details around you 24/7...For me and you, our guns are our families security....we don't get the luxury of a platoon of ISP troopers keeping us safe....It all makes me
