TAKE A MINUTE TO REMEMBER...

Tomorrow is the 2nd anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the United States. Please take some time to reflect on those we lost.

Also, take some time to reflect on the freedoms you enjoy as being a citizen of the United States. You should also take this opportunity to remind yourself that there are people in this country...people in this state...elected officials who are actively working to strip you of the freedoms that are so uniquely American.

Celebrate your freedom by registering to vote. Bolster your fredom by joining the NRA and the ISRA or upgrading your memberships.

VICTORY IN THE 'BURBS

For many years, the Downers Grove Park District sponsored the DNR's Hunter Safety Training and held the training in one of the district's facilities. The training was very popular and well attended.

Then along came the antigunners and the district dropped the classes.

But now, thanks to solid grassroots political efforts on the part of local hunters, sportsmen, and firearm owners, the Downers Grove Park District Board enjoys a pro-gun, pro-hunting majority.

Just last week, the district announced that Hunter Safety training was being restored as part of the district's class offerings.

Many thanks to the Downers Grove Park District Board for renewing their commitment to public service.

If you need hunter safety training, or know of someone who does, please patronize the Downers Grove program. Here's the info:

Class# 1302006

When: 11/4 and 11/13 2003, 7-10 PM

COST: Downers Grove Residents: $6, non-resident $9

Where: Lincoln Center, 935 Maple, Downers Grove

For more info: (630) 963-1300

This is yet another example of how positive political action can affect change in your community.

MORE LIES FROM DALEYDOM

The September 6th edition of the Chicago Sun Times carried blaring front page headlines reading "GANGS IN ARMOR" with a follow-on story about how the Cook County State's Attorneys Office is wailing about how gang members have been found wearing body armor and that more laws are needed to crack down on people who wear bullet proof vests.

Of course, prosecutors' gripes about body armor open up all kinds of interesting questions - not the least of which is whether or not citizens have a right to protect themselves from bullets fired at them - regardless of the source.

Interestingly, the article does serve as a reminder to law-abiding gun owners of some of the hanky-panky that is going on deep in the bowels of the Daley Center:

"The push to keep body armor out of criminals' hands is the latest step Cook County prosecutors are taking in an anti-gun violence initiative they have launched with Chicago police and federal authorities."

Translation: The CAGE unit is alive and well. As we are all painfully aware, the CAGE unit spends a great deal of its time snooping into the gun buying habits of law-abiding citizens. To what degree? It's unlikely that we'll find out since Gov. Blagojevich vetoed HB515 - a bill that would cast a little sunshine on the activities of Daley's shady gun grab unit.
