My wife and I are head to Vegas tomorrow for a long weekend trip, it will be my first time.  Neither of us are big gamblers, just wanna see the sites and experience Sin City.

Even before last weeks unfortunates events, I was planning to bring my CCW.  I read that casinos have various policy's for CCW on the floor and restaurants, but didn't know if any locals had any advice or tips on more info on the matter.

I wasn't planning on carrying all the time out there so that I may drink without johnny law breathing down my neck.  Also my MIL who lives out there says pick-pockets can be an issue, so be prepared.

Besides the gun issues, any advice on things to avoid or places I need to put on a short list?

We are staying at Ceasars for a couple three nights, also have an overnight trip to the Grand Canyon Nation Park via Hoover Dam and Route 66.  Rented a Mustang for the trip.

The important places you CAN'T carry are government buildings and most of the airport.  You'll see signs plastered all over the casinos saying NO FIREARMS.  That's just the owner's wishes, the signs do not carry the weight of law.  That being said, if they find out you're carrying they'll very firmly ask you to leave.  Do it.  Do not put up a fuss.  If you give them a hard time they'll nail you for trespassing and that's when the shit will hit the fan.

I've never had a problem with pick pockets, but then again I pay attention to my surroundings.  Be most alert in crowds.  That's especially true if you go down to Freemont Street to watch the overhead light show.  (I highly recommend going to see that.)  Very crowded area where people are all looking up and distracted by the show. Fertile ground for thieves.

I can't recall seeing any no firearms signs at any casinos. I'm sure a couple have them but as you said they have no weight of law.

As for drinking and carrying the law is 0.10
