TACTICAL CARBINE RIFLE

2-day (16 hour - maybe a few more if we can fit it in and the energy level is good)

This course has some of our Carbine 1-2 course in it, but also adds a higher speed and tactical concepts of team engagements.  
   
Tactical Carbine Rifle is designed for the novice shooter or remedial training for the more experienced Carbine Rifle shooter. The Carbine Rifle is becoming more popular in the urban setting due to its great accuracy capabilities, and generally it is easier to shoot for most people due to its lack of recoil. This lack of recoil, combined with greater accuracy, make it a favorite among shooters. At the end of this course the shooter will have confidence that they can shoot at something and hit it, and not be intimidated by recoil. Students will learn proper foundations, maintenance, employment, ammunition selection, mechanics and manipulation. This course is designed to hone basic fundamentals while teaching individual tactics and techniques. Movement shooting will be added and stressed. Students will deal with a multitude of different targets at varying distances, and learn to shoot from cover and concealment from twelve-plus different shooting positions. Multiple targets will challenge even the experienced operator. Proficiency will be stressed, as well as reloads, and malfunction clearing.

PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE:

This course is designed to provide the general and specific knowledge concerning operation and tactical employment of the Carbine/Rifle weapons system. This course starts from basic fundamentals, then leads into tactical applications of those fundamentals.  The latter half of this course will focus on Team Engagement Concepts, working from and around vehicles, and how to deal with structures.  

TIME:

This course is approximately 16 hours total. This will include 1 hour of registration and introduction to the course and instructors. The remaining 15 hours will be spent on firearms safety, nomenclature of the different weapons systems, maintenance, and operation of the weapons. Operation will include loading, ballistics, tactical considerations, shooting positions, moving targets, malfunctions, and transition drills. Students will fire a combat qualification training courses in the daylight (as well as in the night time if the range permits). All will gain a general overall knowledge of employing the carbine rifle in real world applications..

This is where we spend time in the classroom and on the range going over our courses and doctrine to make sure our Staff and doctrine is evolving. We strive hard to make sure that what we have to offer and teach is never static and not anchored in obsolete techniques and mindset, that there are always new developements. Some of our workshop time is spent on developing future training courses and concepts. Other time is spent of writing lesson plans, legal issues and updates, adult learning objectives, range issues, coaching, diagnosing problematic shooters, weapons armoring and maintenance, ballistic updates and issues, foundation principles, etc. Basically this is where we spend time making new developements, as well as making sure that our Staff has a thorough understanding of what we teach and why. We have a lot of Classes and events in the works for 2006 and 2007 and this is our preparation time.
