This Saturdays (20 Jan) 300 yard matches have been built and are avail for sign up. Keep in mind space is limited so don't drag your feet.
Registration for the rimfire matches (Precision 9:00-12:00 and PRS 12:00-3:00) on Sunday 28 Jan is also open. And... the mover showed up. With any luck, the PRS match will have it out at 70-75 yards. |

The morning match is full for this Saturday.

Fun times yesterday with absolutely perfect weather.
Reminder, if you sign up for the match and can't make it, please inform match staff asap. When you don't show up, it means someone that was on the wait list wasn't able to shoot the match. Yesterday morning the position of the day was a ladder. You could use whatever support equipment you wanted to shoot 5 targets from different steps, in 90 seconds. Tim opted to shoot it straight up with just a bag and a rifle. Kevin showed us all how it is done using a tripod as rear support. The afternoon match we used a wire spool and a barrel. 5 shots in 75 seconds. It turned out to be very difficult and not steady at all with only one person hitting all 10 targets and a few 9/10s. The tight time limit made using a tripod for a rear support a wash. More stable but a lot of time for setting up. Huge thanks to Bison Tactical in Boulder for letting us use one of his new Tactical Udder front bags. Pretty much all you saw was Traust rear bags and the Tactical Udder. This Sunday PPPS will host a six stage IPSC/USPSA match.
All the $$$ we collect will go straight to Deputy Micha Flicks family. There will also be a donation jar there as well. Detective Micah Flick was killed in the line of duty 05 Feb 2018. Micha was an 11-year veteran of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office. Today was his 11th anniversary with the sheriff's office. Micah is survived by his wife and 7-year-old twins. He was a native of Colorado Springs and graduated from Colorado Springs Christian School. Born Aug. 20, 1983. His current assignment was as a detective in the investigations division and he has served in the jail at CJC's floor security and court and transport with the Special Response Team and on patrol. Deputy Scott Stone was a five-year veteran assigned to patrol. He was wounded by gunfire and is currently in stable condition at Memorial Hospital. Detective Sgt. Jacob Abendshan is a 16-year veteran. He was wounded by gunfire and has been released from the hospital. Colorado Springs Police Officer Marcus Yanez was also wounded by gunfire and has been released from the hospital. |

Tomorrow is a cancel with cold temps and snow.

Yesterday turned out to be a pretty nice day to have a match despite the wind.
More important than anything else, we raised a bunch of $$$ for Deputy Micha Flicks widow and children. Following next Sundays Rimfire match, I will drop off the $$$ to her. Feel free to donate cash, gift cards, restaurant gift certs, ect. Results can be found here. 0830 https://practiscore.com/results/html/f23a5071-a7b9-4a6f-ac10-d6265f4fff9b 1200 https://practiscore.com/results/html/7eeca682-1007-47be-8e6f-f9fcceb60f44 It is worth mentioning that Mary Beth and Charlene made a bunch of boys cry yesterday... Sign up is available for next Sundays rimfire matches. https://practiscore.com/clubs/hosers-steel Don't forget that when you sign up for a match and don't show up, it means someone on the wait list didn't get to shoot. Not cool. Scotty using a tri-pod to help stabilize things off the barrels. Stan using a tri-pod and going 10 for 10. The small target was a 3 inch diamond... Dino from Team Burris off his tri-pod, also going 10 for 10. And off the barrels with no rear support. Sometimes its hard to be kinda short. We didn't have any phonebooks for her to stand on. Everyone that stayed home got beat by a girl. Like a rock Star she used a Bison Tactical Udder bag for support. |

This Sunday. Grab a gun, 200 rounds and head to the range.

Had a few people from the board that weren't afraid to come down and shoot with us.
Sean from Bowers came down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYxvgEmdTFg |

Here are the links to todays matches. It started out a little cold but it warmed up nicely. We had several people show up early to help with set up and everyone helped out with spotting, running the timer and iPad for scoring.
Huge thanks to Dino from Team Burris. He got there early and stayed late to be sure everything was taken care of. Without him these matches would not happen. Please tell him thank you the next time you see him. Next Sunday is the first Tactical Rifle Match of 2018. See you there. You can sign up at practiscore.com. Look for Hosers Steel under the clubs dropdown. Or cut and paste this link. https://practiscore.com/clubs/hosers-steel Lastly, thanks to everyone that donated to Deputy Flicks fund. Just heard from the range caretaker.
We are good to go for tomorrow. Set up starts at 7:00 and the match starts at 9:30. As of now, there are only 2 slots left. |
|
|
Don't forget tomorrow is the Precision Rimfire Match in the morning and Rimfire PRS in the afternoon. We will be shooting the mover.
If you have never shot a moving target with a precision rifle, here is your chance. |
|
|
Good times today. Very tough and switchy winds. Several people missed targets as close as 50 yards because of the wind.
The PRS match had the mover out at 80 yards. Good times. Lots of different obstacles to shoot from and lots of different way to skin a cat on all. Results can be found here. https://practiscore.com/results/html/bd6d1a79-3069-4026-8808-b528c735c44a https://practiscore.com/results/html/c0b47b2f-28dd-4c99-af5a-2ad6c0252e41 |

We had an absolutely awesome set up crew today. Huge thanks to Zack K, Tim G, Dave H and everyone else that skipped that extra 30 minus of sleep and came out to support the match. Without people helping out, matches cant continue.
Notably, today a Limited division shooter, Robert C cleaned the standards stage. It has been a long time since anyone has done that. Congrats, well done. PLEASE.... IMPORTANT...... Do not handle rifles or bag/unbag rifle when people are downrange in any way shape or form. I even spoke about this exact thing at the shooters meeting. We will continue with "Hit Factor" based scoring for the rest of the year as it heavily emphasizes hits over speed compared to "Time Plus" scoring. See you on 22 July. Results are here. https://practiscore.com/results/new/0c3e033f-ff7d-41db-b0e1-052d3ea2a90e?q_result=0 |

Fun match yesterday despite the heat. Thanks to everyone that came out.
We had an excellent set up crew and we had everything set up and ready to go in plenty of time. Speaking of excellent, huge thanks to Justin and Charlene for yet again keeping it all going. Without these two people, this match would not happen. Please remember to tell them thank you when you see them. A note on teardown... When you finish shooting, you tear that stage down and get it put back in the shed. You aren't done shooting until your stage is put away. Please don't shoot and scoot leaving 2-3 people to put it away. If you have to leave early, please tell the match staff. Don't forget it takes everyone to help run a squad. If the same guy is running the timer over and over, give them a break. He also came to shoot. Lost and found, if you lent a pair of gloves out, let me know and I will get you in touch with the guy that has them. Next Month is the AK vs AR match. If you are going to shoot both, you must sign up twice. Each gun is considered a separate shooter for scheduling and squadding. It is also the only time you can shoot steel core or any of that junk commie ammo. Sign up for the 23 Sept AK vs AR match opens on 01 Sept at midnight. Don't drag your feet. We only have 36 slots. https://practiscore.com/results/new/64742 |
|
|
All the September rifle matches in Pueblo are avail for registration on practiscore. They all opened up at midnight on the 1st.
https://practiscore.com/clubs/hosers-steel The Tactical Rifle Match on the 23rd is already half full. This month is the AK vs AR match shooting the VTAC Standards. If you are shooting 2 guns, please be sure to sign up once as an AK shooter and once as an AR shooter. If we see you shooting 2 guns under the same name, we won't know which is the AR and which is the AK. The match is capped at 36 shooters, so please do not drag your feet signing up. The morning rimfire match on 29 Sept is capped at 20 shooters and the noon PRS is capped at 16 shooters. Please get signed up asap. https://practiscore.com/clubs/hosers-steel |
