Just checking in on you WA guys. Ohio has a pretty massive lockdown. Auto workers all walked off the job here. We had a bunch of people at the Jeep plant get sick and the employees asked UAW to intercede. They promised hand sanitizer and cleaning. When none occurred they walked and shortly after GM and Ford announced shutdowns View Quote https://www.seattletimes.com/business/boeing-aerospace/worry-over-coronavirus-grows-among-boeing-factory-workforce/ |

Given that it took China 2 months to flatten the curve, with Authoritarian-Communist government control, it almost seems like we are moving too slowly. The reason we are seeing a ramping up of restrictions, instead of a just an overnight Madagascar-Shut-It-Down-Now is because of the majority of Americans being skeptical and the "fuck you, I'll still do what I want" attitude. Italy is currently running #2 behind China in total infections, but the mortality rate is 7.3%. That's double the rate of China. And they've already gone to nearly the same levels of quarantine as the Chinese did. But it's too little too late for Italy. They have 50% of the deaths that China has, with just 30% of the total infections. So there is no denying that going full-scale lockdown has a dramatic reduction effect on the rate of spread, and the subsequent death toll. WA is currently running at 5.4% mortality. So we are trending worse than the Chinese rate right now. Just rip the fucking bandaid off, stop with the slow build bullshit. Oh, and our economy is already fucked, even without any "social mandates" or power grabs by the Democrats. *Yes, all those figures are based on "confirmed" infections, and the total number of real infections is probably higher. But we use the data we have, not the data we want. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:
Quoted: Inslee’s Latest Ban Yep there it is. Also including recreational facilities, so you can damn well bet ranges are in that mix. All only in King County...for now. Guaranteed this will include Snohomish and Pierce inside of next week. Generically, I can understand the concern of slowing any spread. On the flip side, I don’t trust Inslee for shit not to be licking his lips at a huge power grab opportunity. This pandemic is a perfect opportunity for Olympia to enact all kinds of ‘emergency’ socialist mandates and run our state economy roughshod. I can see exec orders for ‘emergency’ tax hikes to attempt to offset the damage they will cause. As well, grocery stores and pharmacies are exempt...for now. Anyone want to bet how long that will last, and when state-run rationing will begin? Edit: it actually IS state-wide. Quoted: How do you know what the mortality rate is if you don't know how many have actually had the disease? View Quote Mortality rate, afaict, is the % of the total population that dies (or is expected to die), usually expressed per-1000. Case-fatality-rate (CFR) is the proportion of diagnosed people who succumb, but can't usually be calculated until after the fact (you have to wait for everyone to recover or not). Right now, we only have the stats of people who have died compared to those actually tested positive, and every number for mortality or case-fatality rates are just guesses to what the final outcome will be. The state dept. of health only publishes a limited set of data so far. |

The vast majority of deaths "attributed" to this virus in Wa state, were all in a single nursing home..that tends to skew the the numbers.

I am calling it. Shelter in place by Monday. I hope you can tease about it then.

Well, the mayor of Everett is doing it.
Counts for me personally But not for my prediction |

I think today's the day.
Inslee to speak at 17:30. I've talked to people in two different "important" fields that have received "passes" to be out during the quarantine. |

Unless they're going to start handing out $1000 bills on street corners and give everyone free Netflix, tough to get an entire population to just park it on the couch for weeks or longer...especially right after a months of winter. The next few days may well be defining moments for more than a few politicians (and the smart-ish ones know it). Boss |

The FEMA letter out today basically describes essential services a friend of mine received today. He’s the head of HR for a large company here.

What's considered essential businesses? Will gun shops be open? I read that businesses have 48 hours to stay open.

Don’t care what he says.
They’re emptying jails and going to cite/arrest people for being out? I plan to go hiking soon. |

Inslee is such a dildo.
Yea let’s leave take out open when you know damn well people are congregating there. |

Just learned Boeing is shutting down for 2 weeks to do "site clean up" for 2 weeks, starting 3/5. I'm sure the timing is merely coincidental.

So I'm seeing that supposedly pot shops are essential and gun stores are not???? What in the blue fuck is going on around here
|
|

Why are grocery stores all closing at 10pm? Wtf I only have been going late night when they're empty... Closing early at midnight due to stocking and worker concerns I'd get, but 10?
Meh all well I'm good for a while longer I guess. Might as well all hazmat up and go next time during the day Surprised pot shops got the waiver :-/. If I had one I'd keep it open 24h a day and just print money I guess though. |

That mandate is a fucking joke.
My wife works in IT. At a bank. She's a desk nerd and currently WFH. My BIL works at a printing press. One of those big ones that does newspapers and such. They both got an essential/business critical letterhead from their companies to show the cops if they get pulled over. |
