OR, how I spent Labor Day weekend.

I've gotta say, there is some beautiful country over on the dry side that I didn't know existed. I WILL do this again.

Guess some of the location and wind a small bit of respect from yours truly.

Not gonna re-post pics––even DSL will implode––but I recognized (or thought I did) ferry to Whidbey, bridge from Whidbey to Fidalgo, Leavenworth, Wenatchee, Chelan, and I forgot the name of both dams.

One of them is the Grand Coulee.

Grand Coulee Dam
Dry Falls State Park
Kristall's Restaurant in Leavenworth (that was the destination of the last group ride I went on)

I've been on almost every part of that whole route at one time or another, except the NW part through Oak Harbor & Townsend (been close though).

Looks like you had lots of fun!
Link Posted: 9/5/2010 4:35:07 PM EDT
You were on Whidbey and you didn't stop by?

Fail.

I knew I'd get at least one of these types of comments. Given that you're asking, it indicates that you aren't aware if I did or did not in fact stop by.

Well, I did, and you didn't answer the door.
Link Posted: 9/5/2010 4:39:10 PM EDT
That was a helluva trip!
I know you had a good time seeing some of the best parts of Washington State.
Link Posted: 9/5/2010 4:40:29 PM EDT
You rode right by here and didn't stop

What all did you pack? Doesn't look like you took much.

Clothes on my back, Sleeping bag, 1 man tent, 3 T-shirts, 3 pair underwear, 3 pairs of socks, one spare pair of pants, Full face helmet, cold weather gloves, some smokes, and not much else. I lived off the land.

"Lived off the land" = gas station food

Looks like Deception Pass as well.

If it helps, we posted it at I-90 EB, near Issaqua indicating that Seattleites were not to go any further East.

The subject of this thread is missing probably the strangest encounter of our entire trip, that being the saxaphone playing weirdo that showed up at our campsite in the middle of nowhere at 11 at night.

His name was "Jeff from Swedish". The more I put it together, the less it makes sense.

300mi from NOTHING, and a guy shows up at 11pm. "Hey you mind if I play my Saxaphone?"

And he didn't even know "careless whisper"

Looks like a great ride. thanks for the photo of the map. That is a nice route for a weekend ride.
What year is your sporty? If it is a carburated bike, you can get 90 plus rear wheel horsepower and still be as reliable as a stocker.
My current sporty is 84 inches and goes mid 10's in the quarter.

I would have given you a bag of frozen french fries from last year if you had stopped on by.

Highway 20 always makes for a great trip!

Coincidentally I've stopped at that bridge too though it was for a little... bombing practice?

Melon away!

It was so dark (or I was so drunk) that I never was able to see the guy's face... I'm still not convinced it wasn't Sasquatch with a saxaphone.
