does your federal office have a place to lock up handguns if you have to enter the building for buisness?

Which Federal "office" and in what city?

For example the FBI has almost a dozen offices in WA.

Where I live, this would not surprise me in the least!

I have a friend that works in the Bi Mart near my home. He told me that the company has a policy about weapons in the store. You gotta be there to buy one!

Why - are they supposed to?

Typically, so long as it's not a Court building, you are not normally prohibited from retaining arms on your person.

Those little signs they tack up at the Post Office and such are sly about printing only half of the statute.

"Title 18, United States Code, Sec. 930. - Possession of firearms and dangerous weapons in Federal facilities

Except as provided in subsection (d), whoever knowingly possesses or causes to be present a firearm or other dangerous weapon in a Federal facility (other than a Federal court facility), or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 1 year, or both."

The part they conveniently leave off is subsection (d) - the exemptions, like #3 :
"the lawful carrying of firearms or other dangerous weapons in a Federal facility incident to hunting or other lawful purposes."

"Three Lock Box"
Sammy Hagar

Suckers walk, money talks!
But it can't touch my three lock box!
Uh! Oh, yeah!
Mysteries of the days of old.
You find the key, you got the gold.
One, two, three lock box.
One, two, three lock box.
One, two, three lock box.
One, two, three lock box.
Treasure's here, sunken there.
Buried treasure's everywhere.
One, two, three lock box.
One, two, three lock box.
Don't go far, circle close.
The father, son, the holy ghost.
To the trinity, I raise a toast!
Ahh, yea!
One, two, three lock box.
One, two, three lock box.
One, two, three lock box.
One, two, three lock box.
-solo-
Secrets of the trinity lie within the number three.
Uh! Hey!
One, two, three lock box.
One, two, three lock box.
One, two, three lock box.
One, two, three lock box.
(Three Lock Box)
One, two, three lock box.
One, two, three lock box.
(Three Lock Box)
One, two, three lock box.
One, two, three lock box.
