I started looking at simple canopies.  I found one, same color as my truck but it came off a 95 Ford F150, I have a 99 GMC Sierra. Short of driving out to bonny lake to find out if it actually fits I've been trying to do research online.  I found that Leer makes a model 100 that fits both models  of truck but I'm still unsure.  Anyone here have experience swapping camper shells between trucks?

My Truck: '99 GMC Sierra 1500 extended cab (not a "long bed")

The ad:
"This canopy fit our 1995 Ford F150, short bed (6ft) pick-up. "

My friend Don owns Kanopy Kingdom in Fife. I'm sure he can get you a good deal & he is a stand up kind of guy. I just got off the phone with him and he's going to get an account here on ARF.com, it's about time.

EDIT: Or call and ask Don if that canopy will fit. He will be happy to help you PCR.

For a $100 cap drive to Bonney Lake and find out.

ETA: If you wait too long it will be gone.

ETA2: Take c-clamps or those vise grip c-clamps with you when you go.

If that one doesn't fit, it don't matter what the price is. If it does fit $100 is a screaming deal. Have you asked Don yet if they interchange?

In Kentucky that canopy wouldn't bring $25. In fact, you would probably have to pay someone to haul it away for you. I don't know why, but almost no one down there uses toppers(that's what they call them).

Well duh. When you throw your beer can out the side window you can't hook it in the bed with a cap on there.

We don't give a shit what color the sky is in your world, in Washington; where your ass is rooted, they are referred to as a canopy.

That was how I searched on craig's.....

ETA: just measured...6.5 feet.  I am NOT going to have one of THOSE canopy setups.

Just so you know when the guy says 6 foot bed he means 77-82". It will fit the bed dimensions. The only question is the cab angle.

it would appear to be a half foot short and they haven't measured yet to be sure of the length...doesn't look good, she said that they might not get to that until this weekend.

You don't have to take my word for it but a Ford short bed is NOT a half foot shorter than a GM short bed.

Well, shit!  If they or you need to borrow a tape measure I can hook you up.  Otherwise they are available at stores everywhere.  Hell, FedEx / UPS / DHL can overnight one to you, her or both you and her.

Drive to Bonney Lake. Take GodNoStar and one other guy. Two guys on sides in front and one in middle of the back. Set it on your bed. Clamp it down. Give $100. Drive home.

I saw a shell at Boeing Surplus today for $125. Looked new.

They had a less-that-new one for $35. I don't think you would want it, though.
