my parents moved up to coleville 3 years ago, and well, after LONG thoughts. ive decided to move up and live in their basement(basicly a seperate appartment) so i can save up some cash. so my friend and i are moving up hopefully at the end of the month.

not sure how i will fare but ill give it a shot. just thought id say "hi".

BTW, is it true that californian transplants are hated? (not that it would bother me:p )

nope, california transplants aren't hated in WA.

When I was driving through oregon, I stopped at a gas station and there was grafiti in the bathrooms saying "Californians, go the hell home!" lol, talk about a bunch of xenophobes.

Get a new license/new residence and buy a evil looking rifle ASAP.

Colville is in a fun area. Lotsa fishing, drinking, boating, drinking,  jetskiing, drinking, hunting, drinking, etc. There are no jobs and no schools. You'll have to sign up with the tribe and then learn to speak Kickapoo. This is a great time of year to go there. Bring snowshoes. You will learn to eat live moose. And make snowballs. And, did I mention drinking? Actually, it's an area I've spent tons of time in and I love it. And, if you get busted, ask for Officer England. Don't say ANYTHING about PRK. Before you go, watch as many Red Green shows as possible. It'll aid your transition. Ya might pick up an old tape of The Bevery Hillbillies, too.

Welcome! from a So Cal lifer.
You will find West of the Cascades AS LEFT WING & PSYCHOTIC as the Ghey Bay Area. There are a few bastions of conservatism here (Thank God). East of the Cascades you will find political and social reality. Enjoy getting a REAL AR-15 instead of the nuetered things CA folks have to use.

It was a few years ago, a decade that there were some Cali haters up here.  That whas when there was a large influx of Californians moving into the state and driving up some of the property values. At least that's what I've heard from inlaws. There had been some vandalism of cars with CA plates parked in front of local realty offices, but I'm pretty sure my inlaws had exxagerrated the problem a little.

Not the entire West side of the state is that liberal.  Just the Seatle/Tacoma area, well most of King County too I think, and the city of Bellingham, the rest of this side is pretty decent.

Did he mention that they do a lot of drinking on the Res! You can shoot from your back porch over there but you can't do that here on the left side of the state.  If you really love freedom and you can find a way to support yourself eastern Washington is a better place to be. Unfortunately employment opportunities in eastern WA are limited so you'll probably end up over here on the left side of the state and have to put up with all of their socialist crap! WTF, if things get really bad you can still drink!

I lived most of my life in California. Last 12 here. Most of the previous 20 in the Bay Area. Spent my "formative" years in SoCal at a little place called Miramar. The California I grew up in is long gone.

I don't think even Seattle is as psychotic as the Bay Area was, when I left in 94.  Getting close, though.  Otherwise, I think this area's a LOT smarter.

Just had to get away from all those white, scaffold looking things they're putting on First Street huh?
At least good old Dom's is still there, even if they can't sell the evil stuff anymore.

What happened to American Outdoor Sports Supply?

doms is gonna be able to sell pistols again soon. as for american outdoor, i never was a fan of one of the richards...

my gun shop of choice was waynes in dublin, but since gary moved a few years back, i havent even had the intrest to buy(though my last USP 40 came from doms b4 the whole B&E thing)

oh BTW, those lattice things are finally done now... it took some getting used to but i like what they did with the parking situation now.(hood to the curb instead of para.) they want grape vines all over them, i guess in time it might be nice.(though i dont like the idea of driving my cars under ratty ass bushes.

I didn't know they planned to put vines on them.  OK, that clears it up a bit.  They look pretty weird bare.  And yes, the angled parking is a big improvement.  I remember parking on side streets and walking to First just so I wouldn't have to parallel park in that traffic.  Now if they could just do something about the 580 corridor.  It makes the 405 through Renton look like the Autobhan.  Bumper-to-bumper at 2:30 in the Afternoon?  Traffic is one of the top reasons I'm SO glad to be out of there.

Ah, Wayne's.  I got my first AR from them...

23yrs in Sacramento (besides .mil) and I moved to Spokane 3 months ago.  It ain't bad here.  As you can tell from this thread, if you're from CA you must be a liberal, drive like a retard, and all sorts of other stereotypes.  Truth is, if you're from CA and trying to get the hell out, you're probably the exact opposite of what everyone here spouts out their brown hole.

Nevada was my other choice too and I'm glad I ended up here.  Good people (besides ARFCOM j/k) and plenty to do.  Welcome and Enjoy!!
