Just Great. A guy I see about once every few days working out at my health club. Guess I haven't been watching the news until I saw the Times this morning with his face on the front page. Always seemed pretty nice. Pretty upbeat and would have a couple of jokes and lighthearted banter with a few of us at the gym. The guy worked out hard and ran miles on the treadmill at a good clip! never would have figured him for a coke fiend, but maybe he doped up before the gym. The guy had a LOT OF PEOPLE DUPED! What a truly sad and pathetic deal. Entrusted by the public and all he did was whore his way around town, stealing, taking drugs and breaking the law. Truly sick. All he gets is fired....as far as I'm concerned he should be on trial and let the judge, jury and legal system met out a sentence or some form of punishment.

He worked the club on Western a lot, always had tons of hot chicks hangin off his arm. NO wonder his wife snitched him out and the other cops turned on him, nobody likes a true Mack.

You do realize this is Washington, right? If it were solely up to this state's legal system, the People would be chastized for not being "understanding" and "considerate". The local police union would use that as grounds for a wrongful termination suit and Officer Powers would end up being a multi-zillionaire to compensate for his "mental anguish".

Then again, this could very well still happen.

Oh and mark my words, Gil Kerlikowske will replace Christine Gregoire as Governor when she decides to not seek a fifth term. He will win with twenty-five votes to his Republican challenger's two million, four-hundred sixty-five thousand, eight-hundred twenty-six votes.

Just more proof that Kerlikowske is supremely incompetent . And/or he's dirty.

Ever wonder what he is doing, instead of doing his Police Chief job?

The last thing he wants is that handgun off the streets.

Although FBI investigators didn't have enough evidence to seek criminal charges.....

Kerlikowske was briefed about the FBI meeting and decided there wasn't enough evidence to take action, said Sam Pailca, the department's civilian director of internal investigations. The department wasn't provided dates and times of Powers' alleged drug use, as related by his wife, nor any evidence of on-duty use, Pailca said.

For people complaing he isn't in jail, you may want to reread that highlighted part again. He was never charged with anything, and there wasn't enough to attempt to charge him.

I hate a dirty cop more than any of you, because I've got to listen to the ignorant comments where I get lumped in with these people, but I want to point out that if this wasn't a cop, you would be crying foul that he was fired without due proces.

Something stinks when IAD and the FBI can't get solid proof against this guy. He may be guilty, but we are never going to know if he was, or if a bitter ex-wife and former suspects he arrested decided to screw him.

He could be the biggest POS in the world, but why not charge him with a crime?

Did you read my post? Im not mad at him, I love seeing people enjoy life, and brother let me tell you he was enjoying it to the fullest. Hugh Hefner would be jealous at some of the ass I saw him with.

I was moonlighting downtown during this timeframe, and saw him just about every weekend. All night long.

Im sure the piss tested him, still nothing?

Haters, the whole bunch of them.Dont hate the player, hate the game. Goldie would be proud of a true Mack.

I have to agree with CavVet on this one....the guy WAS getting a lot of ass, thats for SURE!!!
(Hence just one of the reasons his ex-dumped him). He made his choice and he partied hard. The only reason I think he's deserves to be punished is for his ILLEGAL ACTIVITY (drugs, coersion etc.)....Hey if he wants more ass than a toilet seat, its his choice, I'm not condoning or condeming his personal lifestyle, just his stupidity and breaking the law on duty.

The FBI and IA cant get squat on this guy...There is no crime, no proof that he did break the law.

Just like O.J. but with a badge

There are other vocations that do not require public trust, but when such weighty matters as peace and justice are involved, private behaviour is the only way to judge unsupervised deportment.

Any officer that betrays good conduct must be punished severely as an example to regain the trust that is necessary.

In the Telemarket Center You can count on a automatic escort out the door if there is even the hint of potential legal action.

and the way it should be, provided there is investigation of the veracity of the accusation is not malicious persecution.

I agree 100%, too many losers have access to power.

That is my point, but that didn't happen. If he broke the law, we don't know, and there are people here who should be smarter than to blindly trust the media slant. If he violated his oath, with the allegations that were made, he should be behind bars, not walking around.

The UA was brought up, which lacks enough information to make a call, but people seem more than happy to anyway. If they had said his UA tested positive for coke, that would be different, but it was very clear that they were NOT saying that. Illegal substance can be as simple as cold medicine and he drove to work, think its far fetched? Its not.

Yes, and they do to the internet as well.
