I bagged a nice filly around 0900 yesterday. Walking to a new spot, I spooked her, and she ran off. Shot at her about 50yds further. Got her high side though, there goes half of the backstrap. Oh well. Dragged her through the forest, across a river and to the truck. Only have the hams left to process. The End View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

My only day out will be Saturday deer camp in Tioga if I don’t drink too much. Out of the last 5-6 years only made it out one Saturday up there.

Anybody have luck today? I couldn’t get out until about 2:30. At that point it was pouring rain. I don’t see anything. View Quote Bother and I doubled up on the largest 2 doe of a 5 doe group at 3:50, tagged, dressed & dragged them over to the edge of the field, walked the 50 yards back into the blind to see if any more would come out before dark, and weren't let down. At 4:15, another group of 8 came out, and we did the same thing, each selected a doe, counted to 3 and doubled up again. Two trips with the quads back to camp, an early dinner, followed by a few hours of skinning, quartering and boning out 6 deer. Gonna have a few late nights this week doing the final trimming and packaging, then the dehydrator will be running 24/7 for a few weeks. Will lose a few hours tonight though, got home to the Mrs informing me the dishwasher died. Grabbed a replacement on lunch break, will swap them out first before the fun work. We'll do the grinding and sausage the weekend after Christmas... gotta start shopping around for good deals on pork shoulders and fatback... |

I was out this morning but had to call it quits a little after 12pm on account of having to tend to a few things at home.
Didn't see a single deer today |

Did you end up going this afternoon in the rain? if any luck there will be snow on the ground in the AM View Quote Saw nothing, but was set up next to your spot on the other side of the trail. I can see the pasture and the holler at the same time @Overscoped |

I did. The first bout of rain happened when I got there so I sat in the truck until it blew over. The 2nd bout of rain was brief, but was wet and cold. I was wearing a hunting suit that my Dad handed down to me. A real nice Woolrich down jacket/pants. It was my grandfathers before him, so as of yesterday 3 generations of men have hunted in this suit. I sent a pic to my Dad. Saw nothing, but was set up next to your spot on the other side of the trail. I can see the pasture and the holler at the same time @Overscoped View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I am headed to Huntingdon County Thursday night. I have a doe tag and hopefully the weather is good.

I got my 2nd one of the year. Chest plate shot, through the center out the arm.

Last day of the season. I can't be out first thing this morning, but I'll be in the woods around 12pm for the remainder of the day. I'd really like to fill my last doe tag if possible.

Missed a doe with my .44 Magnum handgun on the last day. Just blew the shot. Another in our group missed a big coyote. Yet another of our group did bag a coyote, but not the same one that was missed.
A fourth member bagged a small doe while a fifth member got a big doe, although it turned out to be a buck that had dropped its rack. Seems a lot of hunters were reporting the same thing; lots of racks dropped early. |

I ended up with two in the freezer this year, which is the norm for me. I was trying to harvest a 3rd one this year, but it didn't happen. I had a couple of days off at the beginning of the week to fill my other doe tag, but those days were seriously compromised on account of my dog being in failing health and my having to put her down on Wednesday
I got out at 12pm yesterday and kicked two small does early in the afternoon while stalking, but there was no shot to be had. Near dusk, I was pushing a hill for someone posted in one of my tree stands and kicked two more does past him. |

It's not of unheard of, but it's not common, either. |

Yeah, 2B and the other special reg areas apply mostly to the urban zones. Most of the state is 1st Saturday for doe. In all fairness, they've been tinkering with doe season schedules a lot over the past couple of decades. View Quote |

Went up to the “farm” we hunt for the last four days up in 3C. My gun was acting like I’ve never shot it before so had to use my friends 30-30 lever gun. Really liked the thing and will probably pick one up. But three of my friends shot a doe, and I took my first buck.
One of our last drives the last day it sounded like thunder in the woods had 15-20 deer run straight at me. Was about to shoot a doe, but caught a glimpse of some antlers. Made sure he was legal and hit him right in front of his left shoulder. Angled just right to come out behind his other shoulder. Saw him stumble and jump over two stone walls and flip end over end over the second wall. Made it about 60 yards. Here’s our haul and my first buck. Attached File Attached File Attached File |
