I dont see what the difference is.

That's my point ...if you're taking the kids out of school so they're not all jammed together and one little classroom and possibly spreading virus between them then what's the difference between that and them  going to a daycare spreading the disease around ..you might as well just leave them in school

well thats a luxury that some have.
For instance, my wife has a white collar job, if we had kids, she can watch them because shes working from home for at least a month.

Now if my wife had a blue collar type job, she wouldn't be able to because there are no blue collar work from home jobs.

Allegheny County officials are now calling for "non-essential" businesses to close voluntarily starting Monday for at least two weeks to limit the spread of coronavirus through personal contact and surfaces.

According to the release, "the goal with this recommendation is to further emphasize social distancing. Of particular concern are those areas where people congregate together."

Officials listed the following types of businesses that would fall under this recommendation:

child care centers

senior centers

community and recreation centers

gyms  including yoga, spin, barre and other similar facilities

hair salons, nail salons and spas

casinos

bars

concert venues

theaters

sporting event facilities

golf clubs

social clubs

non-essential retail facilities including shopping malls (except for pharmacy or other health care facilities located therein)

Officials said this recommendation does not impact supermarkets, pharmacies, and gas stations. They also clarified that restaurants are included in this recommendation but should stay open for carry-out and delivery.

All I know is the person either works there or lives there... neither was explained in detail.

the place is pretty deserted now, but thats to be expected... mostly office jobs that people can probably do from home.

Anyone heard of and know where “Deans Guns” is in Canonsburg?  I can’t find anything about them with a web search (bing).  Several other gun shops, but not them.

A former neighbor told my mother he now works there part time, but didn’t say where exactly it is, or what it’s close to.  Long drive for him.
He said they have a selection.  No mention about prices.
It is a bit out of the way for me now, but maybe worth checking out.

We were literally given a "Life Sustaining Business" disclaimer to print out and laminate to present to people (assume that's law enforcement) in the future should anyone be asked for it

Hey, I just want to say something that I feel is important to all of you.

Stay Fucking home.

CV hasn't hit our area all that hard yet. But, it will come here very hard soon, because of the actions of the residence of this area.

I drive a truck for a living.  I am still working. I wish I wasn't, but I am.

People are not staying home, especially in the suburbs.

Half of the time, I am on the highways and back roads of Washington and Greene counties.  Very few people are using 79 and 70.  This is good.

The other half of the time, I am on roads like Rt. 51 Jefferson Hills area, University Blvd. Moon area, Rt 19 Bethel Park, USC, Mt Lebanon,  Main st., Carnegie, Rt 228 Cranberry, Seven Fields, Rt 910 Wexford... etc.  People in these areas are out in full force.  THIS IS WAY BAD.

The government has mandated that people in non-essential jobs either have to work from home, or they get laid off and they are providing you with income. There is absolutely no reason to be out driving around to visit friends or hanging out at Home Depot and Giant Eagle because you are bored.

Spend the time with your family.  Spend your time cutting grass and trimming your bushes. Sleep in late.  mess around in your garage, etc... But please for the sake of your family including your older parents, children and relatives and other compromised people,  STAY HOME PITTSBURGH!

hey bud,  hows it going?

we are good. wife has been working from home for 4 weeks. Shes very busy doing disaster co-ordination with her team of 12 people. keeping the entire workflow organized for 9000 people is very challenging, but thats her gig and she loves it.   The whole thing sucks as far as employee personal interaction is concerned.

I'm still out trucking, but my interaction with others is very minimal. I might have to talk to 5 people a day and we keep our distance. Most people are on the ball about that.  I have found that old people are the worst when it comes to following the Presidential directives.

Glad to hear you and your wife are holding your own, Scoped.

We're doing the same. I've been able to do a decent amount of work from home but had to return to one of my job sites in person last week. The buildings are completely vacant save for myself and several other people trying to hammer out some commissioning. We all keep our distance and such and have to fill out daily waiver/disclaimers stating that we aren't exposed to anyone ill or feeling symptoms ourselves.

I have corporate statement 'essential' papers -- yada, yada -- for several states if I needed to travel there.

Is what it is, I guess.

That was some storm that passed through around 1 - 2am this morning
I’ve never seen so many trees down across the road and beaches all over
Didn’t feel the house rock, but where I work in Brackenridge they had a big roll up door blown out of its tracks and they said they could feel the big steel building shaking.   And these are buildings inside of another building.
I had to turn around and take a long detour due to some big pine trees that got blown over the highway.

I will see what trees might’ve been knocked over on my property later today

I was driving home from work in Ohio and saw that storm tracking just north of me. Needless to say I was hauling ass trying to out run it. The lightning was pretty wild looking.  I probably heard 4 emergency weather alerts on the ride home.

I'm going back to work again today. Starting to get really worn down and seeing my fellow staff members getting sick and hospitalized is making things a whole lot worse. It's really difficult being around so much death and disease.
