I'm at a conference, and have met several people from PA. All the cities on their business cards have bizarre names, like "King of Prussia", "Spring House" and "Plymouth Meeting". Who on earth thinks up these placenames ? What's next... "Surreal Banana" ?

Not sure on the names but it seems you're in the right area for a gun show this weekend at the Valley Forge Convention Center. Probably nothing like the ones you're used to in AZ but a good local one for sure. So if you're in town over the weekend and have nothing to occupy your time hit the convention center.

Don't forget Accident, PA and Virgin, PA.

Many more, trust me.

Actually, I'm in DC, and I'm flying up to Boston tomorrow. Definitely NOT the best places for anything "gun" (or indeed, anyone who wants to be warm). I don't get back to Phoenix until Saturday - not a moment too soon, I can tell you.

Red Hot, PA ; Climax, PA ; Town Line, PA ; Rough and Ready, PA ; and let's not forget Beaver, PA and Big Beaver, PA

of course you can always add either of the words "Station" or "Corners" after any other word and we will probably have a town by that name also.

My mom was born in Climax(Been gone before I was born in 1960).
There is Huff(was intill the 77 flood), and Pinch Cut(or Robb)
Looking at the MapQuest map of that area there a lot of towns listed that do not exist any more.
Hooverville, Climax, Huff, India, Lockport, adn Conpitt Junction.

If you live near Beaver then you have heard of Moon, PA and Mars, PA.

There's the old line about travelling in Lancaster County...you have to go thru Bird-In-Hand and Intercourse to get to Paradise, but be sure to by-pass Blue Ball.

King of Prussia was named for Frederick the Great...Plymouth Mtg got its name from the Quaker Friends Meeting House in Plymouth Twp....

Not a town name, but if you find yourself in Marienville, PA look for this little business...

Oh, and there is also a Hooker, PA close to me.

Don't know if you're looking for a real answer, but most names are colonial and have historic meaning.

Just about in the middle of PA is Jersey Shore.

I'm originally from the Mars area, but haven't been there in years.

I used to love to tell everyone I was from Mars. Proving it was even better! LOL

Do you have a "Beaver Diving" shirt from the school?

We stomped Beaver every year in football when I was growing up.

Actually Myanis is in Conneticut. Years ago they had a bridge collapse there. I lived in CT at the time, and this one friend of mine will always ask me if I "remember the time the bridge fell in Myanis". There is a town in NY called Coxsackie.

I think the airplane, Enola Gay , was named after the girlfriend of one of the crew, probably the pilot. A quick google search should clear this up.
