Hi,

I am escaping the state of California. I am planning to move permanently to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in May of 2006. My wife and I want to raise our kids closer to our family. It would also be nice to be able to own a house that I don't have sell my kidneys to buy. There's also about a million more reasons to leave California but I don't want to take up bandwidth.

I believe California's laws are "slightly" stricter, so I have a few questions...

If I am not mistaken, AR-15s are legal to own in Pennsylvania, right?

Also, are magazines that carry 30 rounds legal to posess and bring into the state?

One more question, how easy is it to get a concealed carry permit in Lancaster County? I didn't find any specific information on packing.org for Lancaster County.

Thanks for any information, I tried to look in this forum at the tacked topics but I did not see what I was looking for there.

PA is a Shall Issue state. Unless you have a criminal record, there is VERY little the sheriff can do to deny you Concealed Carry a permit. Enjoy your newfound freedom.

" AR15 's are legal to own in Pennsylvania right? "

Oh Hell yeah - If you're Lucky you might even find a neighbor who will let you
shoot something Full Auto

About the only thing you CANT have is an ACLU membership card .

(okay thats just wishful thinking - LOL )

Congratulations on your upcoming escape - we'll leave the light on

Give me your address when you move and I'll show you my Full Auto M16!

Or my Mac 11/9....

I hate you guys with full autos. I wish I could afford one.
Even then I wouldn't even know where to go shoot it. I am in northampton co. in the allentown/bethlehem area. I just joined UNAMI range. The longest distance they have is 100 yards and no full auto.

I can't wait to get there. (Actually, I just got back from visiting relatives and scouting out places to live in PA.)

Wow! Finally, a state where citizens have rights! h=85%

Pity.

I'm a member of a Club in New Holland that, while it prohibits Full Auto, has a range out to 600 yards. Shooters from Delaware come up there to shoot.
I’ve seen Maryland and New Jersey plates too.

New Holland is a GREAT club. I co-run(organize) the NRA Highpower rifle and Service rifle matches there. First rate facility.

John

That reminds me of Two things there:

1. How did the latest Land Grab go? I made the meeting where the proposistion was made, but I don't know the total price of the purchase. Or even if the purchase was made.

2. What's the Clubs new internet address? I can't seem to log onto it.

AFAIK the club voted to bid on the land, but I am unsure if the land owner has entertained the offer or not yet. I do know the club is motivated to purchase the parcel and they have the financial ability to get it done too.

As for the web address I am unsure as well.

Congrats on the move! Just remember...leave all things Liberal back in Kalifornastan...that includes the long hair and the Volvo station wagon. Lol...Just kidding. You'll love living in PA. I couldn't see living an a state with gun laws more strict than ours. The only state that I'd consider moving to is Texas. Enjoy!

That's because we don't have many places to shoot, especially long ranges.
