Here's a REALLY nice club...
community.webtv.net/YULLOSE/HamburgRiflePistol I'm in the joining process right now... I get my keys at the Feb meeting... Oh... By the way... THEY ALLOW FULL AUTO !!!! |
Hamburg?? isnt that where they are opening a huge Cabelas store?
Yeppers . Finally Pa ranks enough to get a Cabelas SuperStore. They just had an article in the local paper about it. 225,000 square feet of pure heaven.I know I can't wait for it to open .
Cabelas got one sweet deal from the state to open up shop here. Hopefully as tax payers while get some of it back. Looking forward to the store opening sometime next Nov. |
Yep...
The Cabela's will be located just Northwest of the Rt78/Rt61 interchange... The very next exit on Rt78W is the Hamburg Rifle & Pistol Club.(actually located in Shartlesville) The club is well worth the drive, and the membership fee... They have Cowboy action shoots and CMP shoots there regularly... |
So Hamburg is just north of Reading? Cool! That's just over an hour for me.
i will definatly being taking a few trips there. those stores look awesome in the catalogs. sounds like its gonna be monstrous. i heard they will have about 600 employees. i guess alot of them will be in the shipping dept. i would assume its gonna be the distribution center for the east coast. i cant wait to check it out.
I dunno - I've never bought anything from Cabellas before. While the "one stop shop" thing is nice, it always seemed to me their prices were easily beat elsewhere. I just got their newest shooting catalog yesterday, and it still seems to be the case... Other mail order shops and gunshows trounce them, and their prices are only comparable to various local outfits. Now, because of the new store, if you do mail order, you're gonna get dinged for PA sales tax as well.
Rocko |
Update on the shoot: I still haven't heard back from my range yet. When I do I will let everybody know.
Fuck that. That blows. Now we have to pay fucking sales tax on anything we order from Cabelas. I've been buy from them for years, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay shipping AND sales tax. No more Cabelas orders for me. |
Just have it sent to someone you know out of state . I send mine too jersey or delaware. |

I'm in Delaware County, always looking for new places to shoot the '16.

Clearfield,Pa. Here! Almost dead center in the state! Home of Grice Gunshop(sporting guns mostly and handguns!) and Bob's Army and Navy(All kinds of guns, sporting, antique, obselete military, black rifles and .50 Calibers!)
I feel kinda funny going to my sportsmans club to shoot now though! A member found out he had cancer so he went up to the club and "Offed" himself! |

Clearfield,Pa. Here! Almost dead center in the state!
No, no, Fireguy3, I'm in Lock Haven and we're about 3 miles from the geographic genter of PA, which is Lamar (where the Federal fish hatchery that raises sturgeons is). [;)] Grices is nice and Bob's has some great stuff. We have Miller's gun shop near me. Mostly hunting-type firearms. Has a great archery section. They have real good gunsmithing. Reblued my MG-34 (looks new), threaded and mounted a Gemtech bi-lock in my Rem/700 so I could use my M4-96D on it, and even threaded a Ruger 22/45 for me so I could use my Gemtech Hornet suppressor on it. Nice people, too. Not big, medium sized operation - have a real interesting assortment of full-size animal model/targets. Not just deer, but boars, lions, ... |

I'm talking my ear protection almost isn't enough! View Quote If your CLEO will sign the Form 4, no problem. I have 3 Gemtech's (Talon-SD suppressed 9MM upper, M4-96D, and Hornet). Visit the "M16" section over in "AR15" for details -- the procedure has been posted many times. I use "Arms & Ordnance" in Warrandale (just north of Pittsburgh) as my dealer. I have 2 M16's (factory Colt M16-A1 and Wilson/EA RR), an AR15 SBR, and 3 Gemtech suppressors. The Gemtech suppressors are pretty versatile. I use my M4-96D both on my M16's and Remington 700. I use the Hornet on my dedicated M16 22LR upper receiver and Ruger 22/45 pistol. Heres some pictures. Greeting Sharkman, I served on the Board for Crowfoot for several years in the mid 90's. Since then I moved to TX. During my term I thought this club was the best around. My closest friends (from PA) who are still very active members of Crowfoot tell me things are going to hell in a handbag rather quick! It appears that 4 of the Board members voted themselves a PAY. That's right they voted to pay themselves $1,300 pre year. Are you sitting down? During the last board meeting (last Tuesday) they votes 6 to 5 in favor of raising your dues from $60.00 to $150.00 pre year. This has been kept secret from the general membership and will be announced at the next general meeting and brought forth for a vote. Sorry to ramble on but this club was awesome at one time, ever since the trap boys took over it went downhill. If you want to know more e-mail me directly and I'll give you a local contact so you can discuss. PS... By the way the rifle range is closed and has been for some time. |
Thanks for the (bad) news. I've been off my feet (foot surgery) since mid-November, so I haven't been out there in some time. I'm very disappointed to learn of these developments. No way in hell will I pay $150/year for what they offer out there. Looks like you're saying hello to the newest member of the Greater Pittsburgh Gun Club. |
Moondog is 100% correct about what he posted, I am one of the active members that informed him on what is happening at Crowfoot, a club that used to be very nice at one time. Since the new board member take over 2 years ago the club has become a place where certain members benefit buy doing work on the club and get paid to do it, and not to mention the 4 board members who voted themselves a weekly $25.00 paycheck for doing what was once volunteer duties. There are also members who get paid a substacial amount of money for doing work that would normally be done at work parties. But just to let you know that there is a general meeting next Tuesday at 7:00 PM to vote on the due increase and we will be there to oppose this and try to get the club back to what it once was. Sharkman shoot me an email and maybe we can get together and go shoot the AR's, I'm always up to meeting fellow shooters with the same interest. John |

Gigglesmith... I live less than a mile from MJSC... maybe I'll have to walk down with the 475 TREMOR....
-Joe |
Actully, yes I am coming to the meeting because I need to join. I belong to Milton Grove and Elstonville, but not MJ. I just moved to MJ from E-Town and since it's so darn close, I need to join. See you there.
Got my membership card and "key" in the mail last night... now, i'm a card carrying member of Mount Joy!!! Guess I'll definately try and make it on the 24th now!!!
-Joe |
Sweet! Some members of MJSC are here too! I'm been a member of it for about 2 and a half years. I'll show up on the 24th! We'll have to meet up.
I might go tomorrow or Sunday as well. I just got a Buckmark and I want to try it out. Either of you want to meet there? |
Won't work for me this weekend. But, I am going to plan on being there on the 24th. I'm looking forward to working on my small bore skills....
OK Guys.
For the 6 of the last 7 Weekends we have been rained on. And according to Weather.com, it’s going to be 7 of 8 on the 24th: www.weather.com/weather/detail/USPA1111?dayNum=8 [>Q] Any suggestions beyond teasing Mary’s dog? |
well... it looks like another wash out in Mount Joy for the weekend.... [>(] i wish i had some lead loads for the 475 TREMOR... i could see if the indoor range is really as tough as it looks...
speaking of which... what do i have to do to get a key the inner sanctum?? is it anything more than paying the extra $50.00??? |
Just come to the next Meeting and pay the extra $50. You only have to do it once. And I think it’s worth it. The Big Indoor Range is strictly Lead Bullets ONLY!. No jacketed ammunition permitted. The best part of the Indoor range is that it can rain as much as it has lately and you wont get wet while shooting. You’ll get wet transferring your gear from your car to the clubhouse, but that’s it. Now if your 475 Tremor is lead ammo, come down and find out. And yes, I DO have a key to the lower ranges. |
gigglesmith.... e-mail me directly at and maybe we can throw some lead....
So nothing is happening Saturday?
If its not raining too bad I might go Sunday, anyway. |
TO: Everybody in and Around South-Eastern PA
FROM: GiggleSmith CC: Anybody who also checks out MAC10.Org, Cobray.com Subject: The rain. CENSORED! I'll be there some time around 8. I'll probably leave immediately, but I'll still check things out. Seven of Eight Weekends! We need an Anim for all the rain around here. |
