Shooters!

The Arizona State Junior High Power Rifle Team is recruiting for the 2017-2018 season!

The Junior High Power Team shoots “Service Rifle” (AR-15A2 and A4 style rifles) in NRA & CMP competitions with stages at 200, 300, 500 and 600 yards against precision bullseye targets.

The team shoots several times a month at the 3 outdoor ranges in Phoenix and all the big service rifle championships such as Washington’s Birthday http://washingtonsbirthdayriflematch.org/ and the ASRPA http://asrpa.com/  state championships.

Then every summer the Arizona State Junior High Power Rifle Team travels to Camp Perry, OH to participate in the National Matches hosted by the CMP. They often win lots of awards and medals and they are one of the top teams in the US.

The team has dedicated coaches as well as rifles and equipment to get Juniors started in High Power competition.

The team is open to Arizona youth aged 14 through 19.  Do you know anyone interested?

The team is hosting a free recruiting event at Ben Avery Shooting Facility on Saturday, October 28.  Pre-registration is required.  Visit the team’s website at http://www.arizonajuniorhp.com/   You may contact the team lead coach at [email protected].

(The next day, sunday 29-Oct, we have a beginner's training class for all ages at Rio Salado, http://www.riosaladohp.com/clinic.htm pre-registration required. We love to have new shooters join our sport!)

I hope this is of interest to some of you.

Post or PM questions.

I wish I could have done something like that when I was a kid.  I don't have kids but if I did I would do everything I could to persuade them to get involved.

This is a championship team and has opened many doors for the kids like scholarships to college, and entry to the armed services shooting teams. I think a few have even made it to West Point.
When they are not shooting they are reloading bullets and have little time for outside bad influences................

My daughter is 13, but would most likely be interested when she turns 14 next spring (for the next year).

regarding the 13 year old.

contact the coach, plan on attending the introductory sessions (28-oct and the beginner's class at Rio on 29-oct).

Also head out to Ben Avery's High Power range next weekend (20-21-oct) with ear and eye protection and binoculars, and watch a few strings of the Creedmoor Cup championships.

if she actually finds this stuff interesting, talk to the coaches about which year she should join.
