Says there's two XL black shirts left in stock, but it won't let me check out. It keeps saying that my checkout session has timed out over and over!
ETA: Nevermind, it finally went through. Sheesh! |

It was a great turnout for the PLEA lunch this afternoon. I hit it up today with a fellow AZS member that was close to Hobbs and we were able to make donations to the Hobbs family there. John reached out to me with open arms many times to discuss 1911's and I only wish I knew him better. I suggest we all take a little time to put things off a little less from now on.
R.I.P. Detective Hobbs. Attached File This was a nice table set for Detective John Hobbs. The letter reads: "Table set for one symbolizes the absence of our beloved officer. White tableware is symbolic of the purity of his intentions to respond to the need in his community. Single red rose signifies the blood that was shed in sacrifice for our safety and freedom. Yellow ribbon represents the ribbons worn on the labels of those who demand rememberance of their loved one. Slice of lemon represents the bitter fate of his loss. Salt sprinkled on the plate is symbolic of the countless fallen tears of family and friends. Inverted glass is to represent the fact that the fallen cannot partake. Empty chair symbolizes the fallen that is not present. Candle is reminiscent of the light of hope which lives in our hearts to illuminate his way home." |

I just returned from attending the "2nd session" of the PLEA bbq (4 pm - 8 pm) where lots of folks showed up -- members of Phoenix PD, Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies, Phoenix Firefighters -- even our Governor made an appearance. It was uplifting to see so many in the community attend the event and lend their support to John's and Detective Casados' families. But, it was also very sad seeing that singular table set aside for John (and being acutely reminded, again, that he's no longer with us).

Pretty good article, with Hobbs' squad talking about him and how they feel about him.

These days it takes a hell of a lot to move me to tears, but this did.
I bought a pistol from him a few years ago and we talked on many occasions about 1911s He was a good man and a great LEO. May he rest in peace. |

You never think something like this will happen to someone you know. John shared his knowledge with me freely. He would do things and refuse anything in return. I feel so lucky to have been able to meet him and got to know him a bit. when I hear the story of him returning fire after being wounded it bring tears of sadness and pride at the same time. I don't have words that are meaningful enough. As I try to write this my cmments feel weak and not worthy. I wish I would have made more effort to hang out with him more than the few times I was able too. He is exactly what society needs in a cop. He will never be replaced. I will always be reminded of him.

Anybody get their shirts yet? Hoping to have it for the event this weekend.

I got my entire shirt order delivered today. Both green and black, 16 in total. By the way, the people I work with/for are all awesome and everyone bought a shirt.
The big news to me... The shirt guy told me the normal run is around 500-ish shirts. Hobbs is over 2500 as of right now. |

I saw a lady wearing one of these shirts today at the ice rink.

We interviewed Erin from the AZ LE Emerald Society on The Arms Room this week, and she said that they were over 5000 by the morning of St. Paddy's Day: http://thearmsroomvom.podbean.com/2014/03/20/the-arms-room_-st-patricks-day/.

That just goes to show what a tremendous man John was, and how many lives he touched even in indirect ways.
Saw this shirt on a Secret Service agent Wednesday serving a search warrant, and I wore mine last night on a search warrant.

The motorcycle club I'm in, the Green Knights....4 of us made an appearance at the memorial/fundraiser at PLEA wearing our vests. We made a donation.
The funny thing was watching heads turn to us as we walk in with the vests. It was a great showing for a great man. |

... hard to believe it's been a month already
RIP Officer Hobbs. You are missed |

That sucks. I did a couple of deals with him. One of which turned into sitting at Four Peaks bullshitting and having lunch. Good dude.

RIP, John.
Met a lady that was there today, Luce, then at her resturaunt that it turns out, was one of his favorites to eat at, I ate there, and see why! Just another reminder of how John left those he came in contact with smiles in one way or another. Thank you to a very good friend of John for getting ahold of me and meeting me at the site as well as taking me to the restaurant today, it was good to see you again and nice to meet your son as well! Here's a close-up I took of the Historical Marker: Attached File |
