Link to her speech, about 15 minutes into the speech she begins her racist tirade.
Tells students to march in protests, of course the students had walked out of clsses and left school grounds to protest the immigration bills. Shouts down with prop 200 which won overwhelmingly in a public referendum and requires identification to vote. Shouts down with minutemen.

Republicans hate Latinos

A Letter to TUSD from Rep. Jonathan Paton:

It has come to my attention from students and employees that disturbing
events are occurring at Tucson Unified School District.

For that reason, I am seeking answers to several key questions to determine
the veracity of these reports.

At the March 29 and 30 rallies, it is alleged that TUSD provided
transportation for students who attended the gathering. Expending taxpayer
money for political events presents a troubling development in TUSD's
mission to educate children.

Also, during a school assembly, an activist spouted political propaganda at
Tucson High School while also encouraging students to skip class to class to
attend immigration rallies in Downtown Tucson. This is equally disconcerting

I am requesting the following information

Did TUSD pay for buses or personnel to transport students to or from the
rallies in Downtown Tucson on March 29 and 30?
If yes, how much did the district expend for the event?

Did bus drivers receive overtime to transport these students?
If district-supplied busses were used, what prompted the district to provide
transportation?

Was there a plan in place prior to the student walkout to transport them
back to campus after the rally

Was Dolores Huerta paid to speak at Tucson High School on April 3?

Did district officials ask that she refrain from political hate speech?

After she began a political diatribe, which included "Republicans hate
Latinos. Republicans hate Latinos," why did Tucson High officials allow her
to continue her speech?

Was the assembly mandatory for students

What options were provided to students who opted against attending the
assembly?

Why is her speech posted on the TUSD website?

I look forward to receiving the requested information by April 13, 2006, and
look forward to resolving this issue as soon as possible. Thank you in
advance for your cooperation in this matter. This public records request
seems more civil than the myriad of unpleasantries associated with the
provisions of Title 41, Chapter 7, Article 4 of the Arizona Revised Statutes
and I hope we can resolve this in a timely matter.

Aah, now we see who was behind it.

How much do you want to bet that she got some "student leaders" cell phone numbers to coordinate the marches?

If you listen to the first part of the speech they have a student get up and speak, supposedly students invited her and you can here some students chanting along with her so obviously was set up ahead of time. Why would they bring in someone from MECha? Of course, it is just a social organization.

When was MEChA formed? MEChA was formed during the 1960s. Due to the fact that MEChA was formed when there were strong anti-war protests going on, there is very militant rhetoric in many early historical documents of MEChA. During this time many chicanos were being drafted into military. Whenever minorities are drafted and fight for their country, there seems to be a lot of intolerance against perceived racism and discrimination by minorities. This was a time of the brown berets a group organized to try and force equal rights for chicanos. MEChA was also formed to try and organize to protest for more Chicano professors and more Chicano studies courses in Universities and High Schools. Hence, there are a lot of MEChA documents that basically are outdated now.

Why is there so much bad press about MEChA? Easy to answer there are forces in the US especially in the Southwest that do not like that fact that the Latino population is increasing. Even if there were no immigration the Latino population would increase at a fast rate. I think racism is the major factor driving these groups. They have dug out historical documents of the 60s to smear MEChA, Chicanos and Latinos. They want the US general population to think that Latinos are not loyal americans.

What does "Viva la Raza" mean? Viva la raza is another phrase that is taken out of context and translated incorrectly by much of the racist anti-immigration people. Translated literally it means "Long live the race." However, that is not the real meaning. in Mexico, the term RAZA also means the people. Raza is also a term for mestizo or Mixed Indigenous and European people. Viva la Raza actually means "Long live the people". It is a term used in situations like when "Power to the people" is used in the US. In Mexico, the descendents of the Europeans still seem to be the ones in most of the positions of power. They are not the Raza. Raza means the people. Raza is not the Elite.

She can just ask the teachers for that information since they participate in her being there in the first place and they are aiding the students in their actions.

Any teacher that advises or assists in the unapproved leaving of school for students should be fired.
Any student that has no approved reason to be absent or to leave school on an AMES testing day should not be allowed to make the test up. See how they like another year of school for their seditionist protests. Apply the rules to these truants, or don't bother to have them in the first place.

I think that Delores Huerta tells them to march in the upcoming protest on the 10th there will supposedly be another protest on May 1st. Both are Moday school days. I hope the kids walkout on those days and then enough fail the AIMS test that Tucson Magnet High does not meet the state minimum qualification numbers. Then maybe the principal who allowed her in will lose his job.

The Federal appeals court just put a stay on the Federal judge's decision that said ESL students did not have to pass the AIMS test to graduate. They now have to pass AIMS or they don't get a diploma.

Maybe where I work in Tucson the hispanic employees are more conservative as they have been saying suspend the kids, fire the school administrators and teachers and anyone who doesn't go to work and goes to protest should be fired from jobs.

Did you receive a response yet? What will you do if you don't receive a response by the 13th?
