Sounds like a plan but I'm going to be going to the Flagstaff area each weekend. Still looking for a spot for the shoot. Have a couple in mind but still looking for a big enough spot.

This sounds like it would be something I would like to try. or maybe come and watch. I've never done a match before, so if I can make it I will be there.

this match is a really fun, low-key event. i went to the last one, and had a great time (it was my first match ever). its not a competetive, pressure type event...everyone is really laid-back, mostly competing against themselves if at all.
i like the fact that i get to load up all my gear, and run around shooting at targets around barricades and stuff. whether you're into the whole tactical training aspect of it or not, you'd be surprised how much different it is to shoot on the move (and without a bench underneath you!).
i definitely recommend this one...a get together afterwards would be cool...i'll need time to recover after sweating off 10-15 pounds.....

07:00 ?
On a Saturday?

Isn't there a stayed up late, drank too much and overslept, 11:00 event?
Link Posted: 7/8/2003 10:17:58 PM EDT
LOL this will be the first saturday in two years that I will get to sleep in.

Not including days that I was sick..

I would love to come out. But, alas, I will be in San Francisco setting up a booth at Semicon. Bummer for me.

Sorry folks I can't make it , doing morgage and closing paperwork on the house I'm buying down here in Tucson. Sorry guys, I was looking forward to this but I really want to get this house stuff done as soon as possible.

But I'm planning to come to the Cross-roads of the West gun show next week. Wearing my WECSOG hat.

You missed seeing me have 5 malfunctions in one stage. New buffer spring shorty upper combo didn't work. At least I hope that's the problem.
Link Posted: 7/12/2003 6:30:23 PM EDT
i hope russel gets the pics up but he can skip the video of me on the long range course!
i believe that my gun was sighted in properly, but i had lots of problems on the long range targets...due to my harness and camelback my buttstock kept slipping and i couldn't get a proper hold on it...also resting on that rail was just too high for me to do comfortably (i could barely stand up at the end!). i should have gone prone but even then it would have been awkward for me. time for more practice!
the shotgun stages were fun (i had only done the rifle courses last time). need work on throwin slugs though...didn't hit a damn thing with those (even off a bench last weekend i couldn't hit worth a damn so i knew i was in trouble...).
my times on 3 out of 4 stages were absolutely terrible, but i had a great time and plan on being at the next one. the worst thing that can happen is you do bad and learn a lot about what to do next time. you never know until you try...
it was nice to meet you guys, FNG and Innocent Bystander...hope i see you at the next one too.

Cactus Match League has a no camo rule for all of their matches all the time, no exceptions. FYI, just in case you shoot a match at Ben Avery.

Warning from video. I am a professional. You should not attempt to throw two shells on the carrier of an 870 and then expect it to work. This brain fart will result in a major FUBAR, jeers from the crowd, an overall feeling of stupidity and a lousy time.

i can't get over how much i look like a stereotypical cartoon villain in that picture...i've even got my eyebrows into that deep "V" that practically radiates evil intent...

... Absolutely GREAT field report SinistralRifleman. I sure hope to join the "fray" once I get my project under control.
