This is a very informal low key match. You can shoot it with any rifle or shotgun. There are 4 stages two rifle, two shotgun. Match fees are $1.00 per stage, and you can shoot the stages as many times as you want. Bring about 100 rounds rifle ammo, 50 shot, 10 slug. Ammo carriers of some kind are helpful too.

This is a good match for beginners. See how you and your gear perform under the stress of competition and the clock.

If any first timers need help, I or any of the Cav Arms staff can give you some instruction on the rules pertaining to a match etc. etc.

If you have never shot a match before, I suggest you at least come watch...and bring your stuff with you so you can give it a try if you choose.

I'll be there shooting my SST-870.

After the match I suggest everyone who shows up meet at Red, White, and Brew on Power and McDowell for lunch.

You use birdshot...the steel targets are often a little too close for comfort with buck.

I've been using Wolf Shotgun ammo...its the one thing I think even wolf couldn't screw up.  The slugs shoot accurately and are loaded pretty hot.  It cycled well in Shawn's Bennelli, and since I'm using a pump it doesn't matter much.

I was hoping to make it, but I couldn't get to sleep until about 5:30am. Of course that meant I had to sleep in, and I obviously didn't make it to the match.

The good thing about these small local matches is we see what we need to work on, and what about our gear we need to change....I think all of us came away with a little of both today.

Shooting in 110 degree heat pushes your endurance too.

No camo applies only at tuesday night steel.  You may wear camo if you are miliatry or law enforcement.  Hot pants and spandex are encouraged for non-military and law enforcenment shooters.  Also remember none of those horrendous thigh rigs unless you are military or law enforcement, as a civilian shooters you should take great joy in using a holster that will drop your sidearm if you move around too vigrously.  You may not shoot the match for fun/practice with no score using such gear either as that sort of image is unaccaptable.  Only military and Law Enforcement personnel should treat matches as a form of real world practice, the rest of us should regard them merely as shooting games.

Even if you work for a company that provides gear and training to military and law enforcement personnel, you will not be allowed to use said gear at Tuesday Night steel, there are no exceptions to the "rules" which are loosely made up as we go along.  The "rules" still apply even if you own or work for a company that donates thousands of dollars in product every year sponsoring almost all the sanctioned matches at the range.  The fact that Tuesday night steel is not a sanctioned match is irrelevant.  The fact you are a paying member of the range is irrelevant.  You should be glad to have Tuesday night steel and gladly accept all the politics, whining, and prima donna attitudes of your fellow shooters.  Tuesday night steel is meant to be taken seriously, you should not have fun at tuesday night steel.
