Wow, that's shocking. USA Today is reporting that the shooter was the father of a minor convicted of rape in a case he presided over. I hope that the judge recovers fully and quickly. It sounds like he is a good guy...

Man who allegedly shot Ohio judge was father of football player convicted in Steubenville rape case

A judge from Cincinnati presided over the rape case.

Judge Joseph J. Bruzzese Jr. did preside over a common pleas case filed by Nathanial Richmond in a dispute with a Metropolitan Housing Board whose members are appointed by Judge Bruzzese.

Jist of the case, Nathanial Richmond's mother died in a fire in a home provided by the Metropolitan Housing Board.  The building had many reported maintenance complaints.
 
The judge probably should have recused himself from the case.
