IM seriously considering trying to trade my pre-ban colt lower for an SL8. Ive searched a couple of sites and havnt found much. I actually wanted an Sl8 before I found the colt. I know parts are scarce and expensive but they seem like a really nice rifles. Anyone have experiences?

mmsig229's SL8 is a very sweet shooting rifle. My big hesitation would be the 10-round limitation unless you are planning to do the mag conversion.

I think Ive pretty much decided to do it. Did any of you shoot it? IVe heard some say that theyre pretty accurate from the factory and they tend to be stay a little cleaner when shoot.

i liked it, but i'm with Engineer with the 10rd limitation. that and i would die it black :)

I havnt found very many for sale by individual owners. Ive found some really cool sites that give links and such to places to buy mods. It looks like its pretty expensive to mod them. IM hoping I'll find a vendor at a gunshow or private owner for a local swap. They seem to average around $900 like new. Anyone have a link or listing of gunshow dates in Wilmington.

Thats a nice rifle bigbore built. HE said he couldnt offer me enough for my colt lower to satisfy. IM probably looking at a factory SL8 for my lower alone. Id kinda like to do all the mods myself. Id kinda like to machine my own stock out of G-10 rather than buy the kit. I think theres a B.Goodmands show next weekend so I might try there.

Next Wilmington show is October. Target World here in Cincinnati has had a few SL8s on the racks for a long time.

Last time I was there they didnt have any(3 months ago). Id imagine a dealer wont offer me what a pre-ban colt is worth to an average 2nd amendment enthusiast.

Plan on spending at least $1,000 on one, plus another $200.00 for the g36 fore arm/bipod. you're more than welcome to take Heidi for a spin sometime at GR. I like the gray color, kinda different. I don't find the 10 round mags a problem, just buy some extras and load them up!!!!!They also shoot much cleaner than an AR, and are much easier to clean. IM me, and I'll hook you up with the place I bought mine. He gave me a good deal, and was nice to deal with.....
