Took the kids on a short hike today to see somewildlife. In the short 4 mile hike we saw a ton of Cottontails, ghekos, Ground squirrels, bird and one deer.

One of many bunnies.

Daughter trying to sneak up on a rabbit.

Anybody know what kind of bird this is?

When hiking in a public park its prolly not good when your 5yo yells "There's one. Shoot it daddy!"

Exploring some sandstone caves we had lunch in.

As much as I hate Cali politics you gotta love being able to go hiking in shorts and a t-shirt in February.

Yep, we've got it all, skiing in the morning, and dinner on the beach all on the same day.

I'm pretty sure that bird is called an Egret.  It's the same damn bird that ate about 40 of my fish, including all my baby koi, out of the pond in my backyard.

You need to get a dog.

We have blue herons around here.  Sometimes I see them stitting up on rooftops looking down at my pond (actually it's more of a tank, waiting for the new pond to be built).  But they stay out of the yard, thanks to my faithful four-legged fish-defender.

Started raining up here today. Sucked because I had to go load and move my mom's furniture now that she's in a care home

ETA: Nice looking kids. As a LEO, who knows what kind of scum is out there, do you think you worry more about your kids than the average parent? I'm sure glad mine are all grown up.

Worrying about kids? Is your son still in Iraq? And thanks for the pics AR15fan. California is a great place to live.

We need the rain. Without it the bushes aren't going to grow and then what would we have to burn next fire season?

Besides that the pot farmers need more vegetation for cover.
