Last year I bought a Mauser rifle with my C&R. Stopped at the bar for a beer. Had my friend snap a quick photo of me sitting at a casino bar with a rifle in one hand and a beer in the other with slot machine to the side.

Poeple at work wonder why I was not aressted for it.

I heard that at Reno gunshows the dealers all check IDs and deny sales of "hi cap" magazines and other contraband to California residents. Can't the DOJ charge them with some kind of crime if they sell a hi-cap mag to a California resident and the resident is caught by them crossing the border?

i wouldn't doubt that at all, i went gun store hopping there a few years ago and 4 out of 5 shops wanted to see id. when you go int there asking for ak mags and drums i guess it raises a red flag to them. maybee i should have said "ill take 5 boxes of .45 and oh yeah throw in one of those drums while your at it"

I think they check you out if you wait until the big reno show to ask in the local gun shop. They know when the CA folks are in town.

The high cap magazines are overpriced but John Mason will sell to anyone, hes always there.

Yes, they can spot us by our massive wads of California job wage-scale cash

Anyone still going?

The weather getting over the pass might be problematic.

Still gonna' try for Friday only.

im here right now sitting in my hotel room after getting my ass kicked all over the poker table this morning, i flew in last night and had a pretty decent session on the table but today is a diff story. i plan to give it another shot in a few hours. looking forward to getting to the show tomorrow but if i do buy anything it'll have to be shipped home, i brought 2 cardboard rifle boxes just in case.

I went...good show...prices seem to be higher than the local gunshops though.

Saw so many kali plates in the parking lot I thought I was at the Cow Palace show for a minute!

I had the same impression although I did buy some sundry items. Mostly cleaning supplies like bulk patches and some small tools for maintenance. I paid a decent price for a LULA and a Norgon Ambi-Catch. Respectively I got the items for $20 and $60. Normally they go for $25 and $80.

One of the guys I went up with managed to get an LMT SOPMOD stock and receiver extension for $200.

It seems to me that the show has become a venue for vendors to separate money from Californians that they know come across statelines to buy AR parts and accessories. Lots of inconsistency in pricing.

Another guy I went up with was window shopping at first. Stopped by one table and got a quote of $30 for a knockoff M4 stock. When he went back, the vendor said "I'd never sell this for $30, it's $39."

I bought the LULA from DPMS. They also had Magpul 2nd Gen Anti-Tilt Followers. I asked how much and was told that they were $9.95 APIECE! You can order these from Magpul directly for $6.95 per 3 pack, $2.20 individually from some vendors and less if you buy in Bulk from Magpul. SOG Armory wanted $7.95 for a 3 pack (They sold me the Norgon for $60).

After the show we went to Sportsmans Warehouse for reloading supplies. Most of their prices were lower than at the show. For instance, Otis All Caliber patches were $5.49 while at the show, Bay Area Shooter's Supply was pricing theirs at $8.00.

Even some of Miwall's ammo was priced higher than it had been at the Cow Palace show a couple of weeks earlier.

All of us knew what we were looking for, and it only took us about 90 minutes to breeze through the show.

The drive was bearable due to the company, but all in all I was disappointed with the show and could've saved myself a lot of grief and money by staying home and ordering online.

Yeah, but it's still fun to see a real gun show.

That's why my visits to friends in Texas coincide with shows in their areas.

If it wasn't for our concealed-carry permits negating the need to pay for a background check, our meager Nevada salaries wouldn't be enough to pay for new AR's and AK's
