Maybe the media is waiting till monday to pick up the story?

Cop in Aliso Viejo was responding to some type of assault in progress, one person told me it was a rape attempt.  When the cop got there the male suspect tried to run over his female victim with his car and the cop shot the suspect a couple times.  Last I heard suspect and victim were both still alive.

ETA: Aliso Viejo's violent crime rate has skyrocketed since they opened that Aliso Viejo Town Center entertainment complex and the City Lights apartments.

I've noticed that with the exception of sports nobody ever seems to do anything newsworthy from about noon on Fridays until mid-day Monday.

The Saturday and Sunday Registers and OC Times have been pretty much put to bed by noon Fridays and the OC bureaus of the TV and radio take the weekends off.

Well maybe it's not quite all that bad, but it takes something pretty spectacular on late Saturdays to ever show up.

I still have not seen any media coverage, but this is what i heard through the rumor mill.
20you female got thrown out of the Time out Tavern for underaged drinking.  Hooked up with a parolee in the parking lot.  they started fooling around in the back seat.  She decided he was comming on too strong and tried to back out so he started beating the shit out of her.  Bouncers flagged down the cop and pointed out the fight in the car. When the cop pulled up the female jumped out beat up and in her undies.  She fell down in front of the car and the parolee tried to run her over.  the cop shot the parolee, hitting him in the hand/arm and he crashed his car.

In today's OC Register...

Huntington Beach man charged in weekend rape

A parolee whom a deputy shot also faces an attempted murder count for allegedly using his car as a weapon.

The Orange County Register

A parolee shot by an Orange County sheriff's deputy after reportedly raping a woman outside an Aliso Viejo bar was charged Monday, authorities reported.

Sabree Muhammad Triplett, 24, of Huntington Beach was shot early Saturday when he tried to hit the deputy and the woman with his car while leaving the parking lot, prosecutors said.

Triplett met the 22-year-old woman at Time Out Tavern and they left the Aliso Creek Road bar together, said Susan Schroeder, spokeswoman for the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Triplett is accused of "not taking no for an answer," and punching, choking and raping the woman while they were in his car, Schroeder said.

The deputy, identified only as J. Porras, was responding to an unrelated call in the area when he saw a struggle in the car and shined a spotlight through a window.

The woman screamed and escaped before Triplett jumped into the driver's seat, Schroeder said.

Porras fired at Triplett as he was leaving the parking lot. The deputy and the woman "had to jump away to not be hit" by the car, Schroeder said.

Triplett was arrested and taken to a hospital. His condition was not released.

He is scheduled for arraignment today, but the court date likely will be postponed because of "medical issues," Schroeder said.

Time Out Tavern owner H.D. Manesh said he was in the bar about 2 a.m. and didn't hear gunshots.

"We've never had problems," Manesh said. "This place is very safe. We've been here for four years."

Triplett, who served two prison terms for drug-related crimes, is charged with two counts of attempted murder with a car, aggravated assault, forcible rape, felony evading and driving with a suspended license.

He faces 21 years to life in prison if convicted of all the charges.
