Ok, I just learned about building an off-list stripped lower into a legal fixed-mag non-AW gun a few days ago, but I guess I might as well jump on the band wagon while I still can, if it's not already too late. here
Uh, what happens if a receiver gets added to the list during the 10 day waiting period for a transfer? Is the buyer screwed because they can't take possession of the receiver when the waiting period ends, or are they safe as long as the DROS was submitted before the list was updated? I'd also be interested in hearing about any sources, reviews, techniques, etc. for either an off-the-shelf fixed 10-round magazine kit, or ways folks have made their own. Do folks who take the fixed-mag route instead of the no-evil-features route generally use an off-the-shelf fixed mag kit, modify a regular mag catch themselves, or use other methods to secure the magazine (like riveting it into place)? Maybe these are dumb FAQs, but I've just started learning about this, and I'm cautious of the wide chasm between what makes sense and what's legal. Yeah, I'll go re-read the CA AR FAQ and all of the other threads on this topic a dozen more times to make sure I stay on safe legal ground! |

FAL receivers aren't affected by this. The DOJ can't add FAL series receivers to their AW list, like they can the AR/AK. Any non FN brand FAL receiver can be built into a CA legal FAL, from my understanding of the law. Just make sure you fix the magazine to so it isn't removeable, and you are good to go. What AK receivers are off list? Is there anyone in the LA/OC area that has them? Thanks! |

I got onboard a group buy in NorCAL. Many thanks to Hawk1 and others who IM'd me and pointed out the path.
