I don't see why not, unless your receiver is registered as a pistol, I think installing a foregrip on a pistol makes it an AOW.

Well it's typical of a state run by politicians instead of people that really want to get things done. These feel good laws only feel good to the ignorant, whom the politicians exploit for their own agenda.

No.
Forward grips are illegal features per SB 23.
So is the flash suppressor you most likely have on it.
So is the collapsible stock.

caag.state.ca.us/firearms/genchar.htm

Even if you have an AR15 registered during the original registration period in 1990, you must remove all the evil features to comply with SB23.

You don't really want an accuracy robbing heavy pistol grip to slow down your shooting abilities anyway now do you?

The question is pre-ban by whose definition? California or US law?

By US law, it's not an issue.

If SB23 applies to your registered Roberti-Roos rifle, you can't have any evil features at all. I would ask a specialist in gun law about that. Try contacting Bruce Colodny or Don Kilmer regarding how the law is applied.

If you have a registered assault weapon, you are allowed to have all the evil features allowed by federal law. SB23 does not apply to roberti roos law weapons. The state does not care as long as it is registered. And even at that I have never been asked for proof of registration at any range yet. 23 was just a catch all law for all that slipped through RR. He can add a foregrip no problem.
