In case you haven't heard, there's a cool event going down in Texas this October.

Hopefully a few of us Kalifornians will be able to show up and experience the oppresive heat, scorpions, Cowboys in shitkickers, whatever that stuff is they think of as BBQ, and that inevitable drawl they all seem to have.

I'll be going down, probably even driving.  Dunno if anyone else is going, but hey, start planning now to go.  Sounds like it will be a lot of fun and a great time to be had.

If you want to carpool...well, let me know early.

PE, I might be interested in Car-pooling with you.  However I not sure about funds at this point, although I may be able to put something together.

IM me if you are interested.

Oh you think i'm Evil now....

Did I mention the party bus we'll be driving?

(note: all vehicular descriptions subject to change at my whim.  Bus may be a valid euphemism for a 2 door honda, or 32' RV)

I'll be available to get LT's pimp signature on any non-biohazard type items you'd like him to autograph.

You're probably not driving it anyways.  So your share of gas and the ride will be $250.  payable in advance, in pennies.  1963 and older ones only.  Thanks.  Have a nice trip

Ok, if we do get an RV and drive down, I suspect we'll be able to take 4 other folks with.  that would also lessen the impact of the fees associated per person.

Please discuss among yourselves.

ProfessorEvil,
What calender dates will this trip be on?
Link Posted: 6/15/2003 3:47:52 PM EDT
[#17]
At a bare minimum, October 8 through the 14th.  Potentially a day on either side more (7-15).  Depends if we have enough folks to drive us straight through to and from and what we're driving.    Still looking to secure an RV at a reasonable rate for that term.

I'm interested.
You can count me in as "tentitve".
Sometimes my work schedule is a bit odd,but I should be able work it out.
I'm a hardcore distance driving SOB.
Not that my oppinion matters but something comftorble would make things so much nicer

For the moment, if we take a 6 passenger vehicle, we are full.  If there's more interest, by all means, we can try and arrange something more accomodating.

LT, you'll be meeting us at which one of those bars?

BK, LT's talking about bringing CA women, they don't care if you're fat, ugly, are missing one arm, if you got the dough or are famous that's all that matters.  I'm generalizing of course.

Just not much.

Actually, outside of the urbanized areas, finding a quality gal isn't as difficult.  And less of them are looking for the bling bling.

Okay PE, since I have committed to this last night I couldn't sleep and have had a hard on ever since.

However, I have a few questions.

1.  Does that RV price include RV insurance for all the drivers?

2.  What are the plans for food?  We can save a lot by eating sandwiches and such IMHO.  I know each person is responsible for their own food but just want a general idea if possible.

3.  Weight limit and luggage limit?

4.  Someone needs to be in charge IMHO, who will that be?  I think you should be our fearless leader.

5.  Will we be sleeping in the RV once we get there?  Is this even possible?

6.  Can I bring my cat(meat)?

Not to be a pain but these are questions I am just wondering about.  You can post the answers here or IM me.

Thank you.

Um.....

No cats.  I'm allergic and someone might see us using them off the roof with the trap thrower.

I dunno about insurance, we'll see.

food is going to be a bit of a pickle...I suppose we'll do a bit of our own thing, but was thinking we'd do bbq at nights.

If we have a sufficiently sized rv we could probably all sleep in it (DVD isn't going to, the wimp) but the way I snore you all will probably want to bring a tent.

Luggage should be minimal.  We'll probably be hard up for space inside.  Don't bring too much ammo.  Weight might be an issue depending what model we get...some of them can get overloaded with 600# of cargo.  So we'll see.

I'll change my name to King Evil for the trip so you can worship me as your leader as well.

LT, we'll see.  Freeride will have to hook you up cuz he's near all those places.

Hook us up then :)  We'll see what we get for RV first, and from there we might get a u-haul or something from a neighbor, etc.

Avoid a trailer - Don't those just scream out ticket me ticket me look how much faster than 55 I'm going?  Plus you might get one of the U-Hauls that says 45 and means it because the bearings are half shot already.  Waiting for help halfway between Indio and Blythe isn't my idea of fun, even if this is the cool time of year.

Thx for the info PaDanby.

On another note, if we reserve at the state park close to Gunstock it's $12 a night plus $2 a day per person.

so that's $4/day per person for staying there, not too bad.  Includes power and water hookups, though.

So that, plus gas (probably $150-200 depending on milage), plus any food we share(depends how good we eat ), divided by 6 or 7, and we'll be good to go.

Hey guys...possibly room for one more?  Not sure about all of your plans yet..but if you are interested in another hanger on, I'd be interested in going, and another girlfriend of mine might be too.  we were wondering if maybe some kind of caravan was being arranged?  We have a 4Runner at our disposal, would like a chance for a major road trip.  Since we are in school..we're not yet sure of our availability to go, need to find out when our midterms will be.  Hope this works out.  Thanks!

Sure, we could do that..problem is RV will probably be max'd at 60 with the amount of people and gear in it.  I believe there is one or two others who are going down, stopping in phoenix, and continuing on Friday.

Well PE...I really hate to back out on you like this.  The funds I was expecting haven't came in yet and I do not know when they will.  So instead of holding up the line I must withdrawl....I really am sorry.
