I want to buy a CMP M1 Garand soon and was wondering if there are any official matches that definately count as 50 rounds fired in a match for marksmanship training, as required according to the ODCMP.

I'm located in Winter Haven, FL so any where in central FL would be good. I have pistols, a shotgun, and several rifles availible so shooting isn't a problem, just never been to or shot in a match before.

Not worried about looking stupid (well just a little) I just want to get my requirements met for CMP purchase.

Thanks in advance,
Steven L.

Central Florida Rifle and Pistol Club has a CMP match and a John C. Garand match On Oct. 26th. This will give you the qualification, they may even loan you a Garand you just have to give them a call.
The range is in SE Orlando cfrpc.com

Other ranges have CMP matches including Port Malibar, Tenorok and others. Go to the CMP websight or the Florida shooters network and look up a range near you.

The Lakeland Rifle and pistol club does regular 5-round High Power matches for CMP qualification:

I am hosting a High-Power rifle match of the same type at Gainesville Target Range on December 6, 2003. It will also fulfill the requirement for ordering from the CMP.

I also posted more info on this in another post in this section.
