This is by far one of the best CETMEs that CAI has offered. I purchased this gun last year and have had no problems with it since. I was a little hesitant to purchase a CAI CETME due to all of the negative press, but I must say I am very impressed. The accuracy is as good as my friends FAL from 100 yards, 1"-2" Groups.

The CETME is a semiautomatic, gas-blowback operated repeater. It utilizes a locking roller to delay the blowback action of the bolt carrier until the pressure in the barrel is reduced to a point where the blowback force is not mechanically harmful (This is the innovative inheritance from the StG-41 and -45 developed by the Mauser team in WWII). This is a relatively unique feature in military rifles since most semiautos are operated by a separate gas cylinder (like the AK or FN/FAL series, for example). The bolt carrier rides a rail on either side of the stainless steel, cast receiver (in the case of Century Arms-built CETME's). The forward tube of the bolt carrier subassembly rides in its own tube located above the barrel which also houses the charging handle and a cleaning kit. A spring mounted on a rod in the buttstock extends forward into the bolt carrier assembly and provides the force to chamber the next round after being forced back by the blowback action. The CETME Specifications
This CETME rifles was assembled using new, original parts and selected U.S. parts so they conform to all U.S. Federal requirements. It features a compensator for recoil reduction and fast target acquisition during semi-auto fire. The buttstock and handguard are of black composite. All CETME rifles, like the G3, are a roller lock, delay blow back, design with fluted chambers for reliable functioning even in the worst conditions. It is built using a precision cast, 17-4 stainless steel receiver. The receiver is produced using the latest vacuum cast technology by one of the leading aerospace casting firms in the U.S.A. Each casting is hot straightened to ensure flawless functioning and heat treated to 42-47 RC for superior strength and wear resistance. The rifle is finished with a baked on gray/black paint just like the H&K process.
