Looking to trade or sell my '03 due to a sudden atack of AR fever brought on by a trade last month. (They do get under your skin don't they?)
Receiver dates to 1923(high number) with replacement High Standard 9/44 barrel. Bore is bright/shiney with very good rifling, measured 1.2 at the muzzle and 3.0 at the throat last year at the North Store. Greek black finish on receiver/barrel, bolt mostly in the white except for some green park remaining. I replaced the rear sight with one they gave me at the store because the windage screw was bent- replacement has nice wire inlay on the numbers and range marks, like when it was made.
Wood: Mk 1 stock, dark with nice grain, has usual dings aqquired over the years and has small triangle on left side of butt, also row of little holes down center of rear handguard sight groove. Both of these can be removed or covered up or parts can be replaced of e-bay. It's got that "been there, done that" look. In could have cleaned her up a little more, but I kinda like the historical significance of all those marks- did that mark happen when the Marine carrying it landed at Guadalcanal,etc.... I know, but it's nice to dream about. Stock and handguard are in good shape overall, nice tight fit for that receiver.
Anyway, she shoots like a dream, 2" groups at 100 yards for me are something I didn't think could happen. Some of my friends might say I cheated, but it was the rifle.he
