I am selling my Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10x40 Long Range M3 scope with Illuminated 3/4 Mil-Dot reticle in matte finish. It is Leupold #53672. It was originally #52366, but I sent it back to Leupold last Fall for a free upgrade to #53672, which involved replacing the illuminated reticle circuitry with the new version. The scope is in perfect working order, and comes with bullet drop compensation dials for .308, .30-06, .300 (WinMag, I think), and .223. The .308 one is currently installed. I originally had this scope mounted on a Remington 700 Police LTR, but I had to send it back to Remington due to a bad (oversized) chamber. I need a .308 for antelope hunting in October, and Remington won't get the replacement rifle to me quick enough, so bought a different rifle that doesn't match this scope well (a Cooper Arms "Montana Varminter"). You can find more details about the scope here: http://www.leupold.com/products/Scopes.asp
The scope tube does have some minor ring marks, but it is merely cosmetic. The scope itself is in perfect working order. It has been sent back to Leupold only for the free upgrade for the illuminated reticle circuitry. Keep in mind that Leupold warrants their scopes for life, whether you buy new or used. This is a great chance to get a great scope at a good price.
I am asking $725 shipped, which includes front and rear Butler Creek flip-open lens caps, and also a set of Leupold STD bases (two-piece for Remington 700) and 30mm rings, both in matte finish. The bottom half of the rings have been properly lapped, so depending on how good you are at aligning the bottom rings in the STD bases, you may be able to re-use them. The bases, of course, can be reused. It comes with the original box, with all paperwork, including proof of the #52366 -> 53672 upgrade.
