I have a WW1 1916 dated Gewehr 98 made by JP Sauer that is now surplus to my needs. OK, I have other stuff I want to buy....
It is "mostly" matching ( I know, it's like saying "almost pregnant")
The following parts do NOT match: bolt sleeve, safety, cocking piece, firing pin, and ejector box.
The rest, including the bolt body, match. It has in unmarked cleaning rod, unsanded but cleaned stock with very nice proof marks, showing some staining from usage of a trench cover.
It has light surface pitting on areas above the wood line, with one real nasty area on the rear of the receiver. Bore is typically rough, but shootable. It is faintly import marked, but this is not a Turk re-work. If you are looking for a "just pried from the dead soldier's hands" rifle, this isn't it. It is, however, a decent, shootable example. It actually looks better than it sounds.
