I am trying to get a company to produce an elastic banded pack cover like the old ALICE desert ones...Except in Multicam (Update…I cannot find one willing to do it in a reasonable time-frame and at a reasonable price. I am going to sew them while I keep looking.).
More info on MULTICAM can be found here: www.multicampattern.com
There are three sizes of pack covers available:30”, 48” and 60”. The 30” cover is designed to fit Camelbaks up to the Striker, the 48” will fit most Alice packs and my Camelbak BFM, and the 60” fits my Lowe Alpine III. The prices are as follows, and include Priority Mail shipping:
30” = $26.37
48” = $41.23
60” = $55.62
E-mail me if you need a custom size, and I’ll get you a price.

I would guess we should start shipping around the end of November, but I will try for sooner if possible. In exchange for the delay, I will front the $$$ and only ask for your funds as the items are ready to ship. That way, you won’t be sitting there waiting on a product you have already paid for.
I tried a drawstring. But it will not work because the material is waterproofed with urethane and it makes the material rubbery. This increases friction to the point where a drawstring is impossible. I have tried several variations on this theme (grommets, etc.) to no avail.
At this point all covers in the original batch will be made with elastic, much like the military ones.
The covers will be made from Multicam (t) brand Cordura Plus Urethane coated water resistant fabric. Cordura Plus is a heavy duty coated nylon fabric, technically appropriate for use on products subject to high wear. Developed by DuPont, Cordura Plus is four times more abrasion resistant than standard nylon. Cordura Plus is excellent for applications where abrasion resistance is critical. It is 1000 denier and is water resistant to a pressure of 800mm.
I am using a surger to keep the edges from unraveling under heavy use. The non-critical surger thread is 50/50 poly/cotton, and the critical thread is 100% nylon to last and resist mildew. Thread color will vary (perhaps even on the same cover) because of the difficulty of procuring it. However, I promise it will be in a tactical color.
Also: If you are wondering how to measure your pack for the correct size, measure as shown below and pick the next size up....
