RD SYSTEMS CQB SUPPRESSOR IS FINALLY AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC.A view of the suppressor itselfThe mount. Notice the collar in the rear to align the suppressor with the bore. This is a one piece unit and it is simply secured by the flash hider. I used Locktite on the barrel threads for some extra security. This picture show the mount with the thread protector in place.Mount with the thread protector removedClose up view of the Supressor mounted on barrel of my personal SPROverall view of the RD SYSTEMS Suppressor mounted on my SPR
I chose this rifle as it is a proven performer and has shot groups of .3 MOA and averages .5 MOA.
I plan on shooting five shots as a control group and then five shots with the can mounted. I will then shoot five more with the can removed and re-attached to check repeatability of the groups with the can re-mounted. If it repeats I will then zero the gun with the can attached and note the clicks in this rifles log book. The range test was done by me this afternoon. I am extremely impressed.
I cleaned the barrel on my SPR thoroughly before i began the test.
This rifle is sighted in for Federal 69 gr Match Kings. We were out so I used Black Hills 69 grainers so there was a little group shift to the left. There is a slight flyer at 11 o'clock due to the clean barrel. I should have fired a couple of fouling shots but time was limited and I wanted to get this done and posted today.
Procedure was as follows:
All shooting was done at 100 yards.
Five shots without the RD SYSTEMS suppressor attached resulted in the upper group at 11 O'clock.
I then attached the RD SYSTEMS suppressor and shot five shots. This was the beginning of the 6 O'clock group.
The suppressor was then removed. I fired 5 more rounds at some casual targets on the berm. I then reattached the suppressor and fired 5 more rounds at the target.
The results are the composit group at 6 O'clock.
I added the second pic with the ruler just to give you guys some idea of scale.I am totally stoked on this can. This is one of the smallest impact changes I have ever experienced and shot myself. Also the group is the best I have ever done with any silencer. EDITED TO ADD, THIS SUCKER IS QUIET, BIG TIME. Troy has got a winner and I will damn sure be ordering more mounts so I can move this wonderful piece of gear around.
In reply to some of the questions I have received here are some answers.
Yes the mounts will be available separately. I don't have a price for just the mount.
The mount itself does not add any length. The length depends on the flash hider used to secure the mount. Compatable flash hiders I have tried are the G6 Vortex, Younng Mfg Vortec, YHM 5C1, YHM 5C2, Troy Midievil, and of course the M16A1 and A2.RD SYSTEMS CQB SILENCER MOUNTED ON 11.5" BBL AND SHOW WITH SOME COMPATIBLE FLASH HIDERS
The RD SYSTEMS CQB will mount very nicely to an 11.5" barrel if a gas block such as the PRI, Jiga or Badger Ordnance is used in plase of the fixed front sight. A front sight if one is to be used will need to be mounted on a rail system. Standard M4 or carbine hand guards can be used, sans front sight post in conjunction the the above named Flash Hiders.
