For sale is a Shirasaya Katana sword (samurai sword). It is over 38" long and features real white maple wood in the handle and scabbard (or saya) and all metal build (no plastic anywhere like the cheapies). The blade is 440 steel with blood grooves on both sides and has the madre-ba, or "confused" temper line on the razor sharp blade (this is a real katana, not a dulled wall hanger). The madre-ba temper is the most difficult to forge in katana blades. It is marked with hiragana markings and the symbol for "sword" in three places. This is not the cheapie version that you used to see in the US Cav catalog, this is an armory quality replica that cost over $300 new. It is a less common katana style from the latter 1800s when the emperor of Japan banned the wearing of swords. Rebel samurai wishing to continue to wear swords took to "hiding" their customary weapons in plain sight by disgusing them as walking sticks and such. The Shirasaya katana is a replica of one of the more beautiful versions. This sword is a great conversation piece or a wonderful alternative to all the flashy katanas out there. Any sword collector will value this piece for it's quality and unique look and it looks very good hung on a wall or placed with other katanas in a stand. I'm looking to get less than half of what I paid for it $125 with $15 for shipping anywhere in the US but will entertain offers and trades (not for more swords or knives though as my collection is getting sold off to get more AR15 parts). That price also includes a set of gold wall hangers specially made to display katana type swords. Check local laws before you buy as some states ban the "import" of swords. I'll answer any questions at my e-mail at JsARCLIGHT@aol.com or PM me on this site. Thanks for looking.
