I made a deal with wera265 on the 6th of December to trade this ring:www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=98&t=312290
We agreed to trade for his Kahr CW9 and a couple of knives he had listed on the site.
I overnighted the ring to him after getting him a courtesy appraisal and he received it on 12-9. He emailed me that day, and told me the ring wasn't up to his expectations. I emailed him back and told him that a return was no problem. I explained to him that the ring was EXACTLY as discussed on the phone BEFORE I sent it, but that he was still welcome to return it.
He emailed back shortly asking for a cash price on the ring. I emailed him back with the cash price.
I told him he could keep it for cash if he wanted or just send it back, that I didn't really care.
I never heard from him again until 12-13.
On 12-13 I switched from email to the site IM function because I'd received, no ring, no money, not even an email.
He IM'd me back and said his email was acting up and that he had emailed me a couple times with no response. He said his wife liked the ring and that he wanted to continue the trade. No problem. I told him that was fine and he said he would get the pistol overnighted the next day and IM me a tracking number.
On 12-14 at 2am I got this IM:
Thanks for the patience...will send tracking info tomorrow...
Keeping in mind this is 2am what tomorrow actually means is later in the day on 12-14 as he just hadn't gone to bed yet.
So 12-14 comes and goes.
So does 12-15
So does 12-16
No Im, no email, no tracking number....just another disappearing act. By now I've emailed him several times, politely asking for an update.
On 12-17 I finally got one. He IM's to tell me there was a death in his wifes family and he hadn't been able to access the IM's or ship the pistol. Tells me he will do so two days later on Monday, 12-19.
Somehow though, during the time "he couldn't reach me due to a death" he had managed to post or update numerous ads including these:www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=98&t=315408www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=98&t=315300
There's more I believe but I found those the quickest. Even with just the two it proves he DID have access to the site and could have EASILY IM'd me if he wanted to.
None the less, just wanting to get this deal over with....I IM'd him back, offered my condolences on the family loss and told him shipping it on Monday 12-19 would be fine.
He IM's on 12-19 and tells me that he has shipped my package and it will be here on tuesday 12-20.
12-20 comes and goes and no gun. I finally IM'd him last night....12-20 to say that no gun came and can I have a tracking number.
He IM's me back with a tracking number (initially a bad one but he did come up with a good one) and tells me the following:
....well , i had the misses ship everything and needless to say , you will have it tomorrow , all of it ... she mailed it all in one package to you directly ... so , if you dont mind , just politely tell the gun store they will not be getting anything ..so the bright side , no registration ... but it went overnight with the knives..."
Well, obviously we now have a real big problem. According to him the pistol is coming right to my house. Oh yeah, it also got shipped on 12-20...not 12-19 as he said.
Needless to say, I IM him immediately and tell him that we now have a serious problem. Initially I freak out but then I just let him know I'm declining the package and he'll have to re-ship it. Then it hits me, why not just have him call UPS and change the address for shipment? I IM him and suggest such and he says he will get the package re-routed tomorrow morning first thing. As of right now......4:07 pm.....he has not IM'd me.
He also never bothered to re-route the package with UPS. I called and did so myself two hours ago, he had never even called. The package was already on the truck and coming to my door.
This guy has tried to get me involved with a federal crime.....he has had my property since 12-9....almost TWO WEEKS for an overnight transaction.
At the beginning of all this he told me:
"good communications make good transactions"
Yeah right. Way to communicate. It's been a nice smooth transaction buddy.
I'll update this when the gun gets to my dealer. I have a bad feeling there's going to be a whole lot more to come in this story.
