I recently came into some gun stuff, and have a mag that I am not sure about.  It looks to me like an HK94/SP89 mag.  It holds 15 rounds and the only markings are 9mm and JA on the bottom of the left side.  Just wondering what I have and about what it is worth on the market since I don't have anything it will fit in.  It is a used mag and does have insertion marks, otherwise it seems to be in good shape.

Yep, that's an HK for a 94/SP89. The JA is a date code, I'm sure someone will chime in with what it is. I'm just to lazy to find it.

Actually, date codes for proofed items follow a known standard:
A B C D E F G H I K
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Notice there is no "J"

Non-proofed items, like mags have another set of codes that are not precisely known.  I see mags and other non proofed HK items all the time with "J's" on them... no clue on date, but it definatley looks genuine HK.  I remember seeing a list of suspected code meanings that was assembled by a bunch of HK fanatics, but it is just a well educated guess.

yes its a 15 round HK mag, used mostly in the SP89 or MP5K(but will work in any MP5 or 94), new ones(I just bought apair) go for $55 or so. Used $30-40 IMOP

if you are interested in selling it, let me know, I am kinda swiming in mags at this time, but can alsways use another ;)

" J " date codes are common on mags, furniture, barrels etc. just not on receivers.
Just about every P7M10 nickel mag out there has "JC" date code.

I claim that the "Date code" on mags were put on there by HK to fuck with everybody, and really don't mean anything.
