I really want a 16 inch FAL carbine, is there anything out there for me under $1000 that will meet my needs? I don't need anything super accurate, I just want .308 punch and 16 inch barrel accuracy as well as FAL relibility. Don't need folding stocks, or rails or stupid gizmos....

Don't think you will find one for under a grand.

I purchased a 16 inch FAL Carbine for $800 last year from Coyote Gulch Armory in Washington State.  It was built on an Imbel Receiver and has proved to be an outstanding weapon.  Coyote Gulch is out of Sunnyside Washington so you might try contacting them about a similar weapon.

I posted a WTB ad on this site and found a beautiful lightly used Imbel 16 carbine build by Rich at Century Gun works for $850 w/Izzy furniture. I'd raise a flag here and on the FalFiles and see if someone might have what you're looking for.

FYI- my 16incher with a bare muzzle is pretty loud/lots of flash. you might want to check out an 18incher with a muzzle device. those tend to be much more handy than the 21 inchers and give you a bit more velocity than the shorty 16ers. Para's stock bbl length tended to be 18' from the factories.
