I’ll have to dig up some pictures but I fell way down the Taupe rabbit hole a while back. Field drab is close unless it’s next to the real deal, then I feel like it looks way too brown. Light coyote seems to be the closest when right next to each other. The magpul ASAP plate is painted light coyote on my SR15. I’ll find better pics of all the colors together when I have time but for now here is my Taupe SR as it sits(I was so impressed by the Steiner M5xi I picked up a few months ago I decided to give the little brother econo model a try) |

The middle one is FD w/ taupe rail panels. You can see there is a slight difference, but my pictures always seem to show the difference much more than seeing it in person. Certain lighting will also have the same effect. Paint also stains from use more than a dyed panel or some other more durable coating too, so that can cause some darkening as well. |

While we’re on the topic of colors, out of curiosity…
My Taupe NT4 (above) and Taupe QDC CQB have changed colors in completely different manners and to completely different degrees. My NT4 has turned green essentially and my CQB is still tan. Even on the NT4’s that EOD dudes supporting us have, I’ve never seen the shift to green like mine. No issue, just curious. Was there a switch in finishes? There’s a few spots on my NT4 where it seems like all finish is starting to scrape off completely, if I’m getting any protective benefit from whatever finish is on it I may go ahead and have it redone. Also, has anyone else had the NT4 carbon lock on? Christ that thing was hard to get off today. |

View Quote One of my taupe NT4s has changed color and looks kind of like a brown camo but it def has not turned green. So a few years ago mine did get so carbon locked from shooting a long weekend of heavy suppressed firing it felt welded on. I ended up having to 'launch' it to get it off. Did not harm the can at all, not even a scratch. Now I am more religious about scraping the carbon of the flash hider cuts and applying antiseize inside of the locking collar. |

I like the idea of the filled in mlok slots, but in use I wish they were useable so I could get actual rail panels installed. The talon grip and/or skate tape is nice, but not my favorite. View Quote ever run into any issues with the Micro front overhanging “backwards” on the rail? I’ve got a setup that would benefit from the same orientation. |
