Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Whats the difference in Garand gas cylinders?

What is the difference between the wide and narrow Garand gas cylinders? Is this just the width of the site base? If so, what are the 2 measurements? I know mine is supposed to have the wide gas cylinder (late 43 manf). Thanks. Greg

They went to the wide base to allow greater production yield (more range for zeroing rifles).  I can't recall off the top of my head what the difference in width is between the two.
