I will first say that I know nothing about
M-14's I know a guy that has a Springfield
M-14 tanker as he calls it, with the short barrel. It was made about 20 years ago. It's in 85% cond. Thanks allot.

If you have a real Springfield M14 it's worth about $8000-$10,000

If you mean select-a-fire then no it's not a full auto. I did not look at the markings on the lower. But I did look for a selecter and it did not have one.

IIRC, if you obtain the serial number and call Springfield, they can tell you when it was made and in what original version.
If a third party converted it to "Tanker" configuration, try to find out who dod it, and their level of expertise.
I'd definitely take it for a thorough test drive before buying.

A very rough estimate, depending on what shape it's in, $900 would be a good price, under $800 a bargain and under $700 a definite buy.

I don't think the guy knows anything more about the rifle than you. Do a little reading and you might get a bargain or be saved from a clunker.
