Tell me what you think. I was offered a G.I M1 carbine today for $250.00. Upon inspection, it is an Inland made in 43. A Korean import from Arlington. Over all it was in pretty good shape, the import stamp was done very lightly under the barrel. The bore had minor pitting. The stock was an M2 pot belly. It looked to be walnut. Although it was a little rough, it would refinish nicely. No cartouches visible. I couldn't tell if the stock was U.S.G.I. or Korean replacement. The hand guard was a two rivet and matched the finish on the stock. It came with a nylon sling with ROK Navy markings and dated 1990. No oiler. Over all it was a solid carbine with about 85%-90% finish left on the steel. The bolt was an early flat type, the rear sight was stamped but otherwise the Carbine had the typical M2 mods. I passed on it because I didn't see potential to turn the kind of profit that would make it worth my while. It would make the right person a nice project but I don't feel like looking for that person. I wanted a quick re-sale and a couple hundred dollars profit. I think I would have had a hard time getting $450.00 for it. Any opinions?

Should have bought it.  Carbine prices, even for the imports, have gotten just plain nutty in the last couple of years.  At least at the Iowa shows that's an easy $400 unit.  

I gotta agree with Ameshawki, I think  you could have turned it for $350 easy here on the EE.

I'm sure you guys are right. I've had my Carbine for 16 years. I really haven't paid much attention to prices since then. Although, I know non imports have gotten ridiculously high, I don't know about imports. I can still get it at that price. I'll have to reconsider my options and decide tomorrow.

$250 for a GI carbine, You should have took it, I have not seen a GI carbine for less than $400 in Years!

I got all twitterpated a couple of months ago when I saw a Carbine on a dealer's shelf for $350!! Turned out it was an Iver Johnson some-sort-of-commemorative model. I passed on it (too much gold trim) but I've gathered most of the I.J.'s used GI parts and aren't all that bad for a commercial Carbine.

$250??? - My card would melt from being whipped out of the wallet so damn fast.

I bought it. I'm not interested in keeping it so it's off to the next fun show I go.

I sold it at the fun show today. After several lookie Lou's a guy gave me $400.00 for it. I'm happy, he was happy.
