Any links or tips for refinishing a synthetic M1A stock? I just got a couple of surplus ones from Fred and would like to paint them black.

Not that I have a rifle to mount in them yet...

Thanks

Cool, thanks guys. I'll do the first one in basic black then try my hand at camo.

Did one with spray on truck bed lining in a can and it came out real good , nice texture.

I'll have to try that amac. That's really what I wanted on the black one: some sort of texturing.

What brand did you use? And how is it holding up?

If you want flat black with texture,Brownells has "Spray Grit" in a spray can.

It sticks like hell and last a good looong time.It gives a nice pebble grain finish for a no slip grip.

I did mine using the "Dupli-Color" brand spray truck bed liner available at Wally World for about $7 a can. Looks good & is pretty durable. If you do happen to have a "boo-boo", it's easy to touch it up.

Just make sure you let it cure for a couple of days before you subject it to heavy usage.
