All Springfield, M1A NM, Pre-ban.

Mag is an aftermarket 30. I've got USGI 20's, but for pics, the 30 looks cool.

The arms #18 is the way to go.Can't go wrong with a Leopold scope either.

Well, pretty plain jane. I give up using any optics on this thing. But, it shoots pretty darn good with irons.

Link Posted: 7/11/2003 6:52:10 AM EDT
gi brat, is that a standard or match m1a, and they all look sooo good, the peerless grade is sweet too
Link Posted: 7/11/2003 7:00:15 AM EDT
It's a Standard with a Springfield Armory installed QD Stud. Springfield paid shipping both ways a only charged me $45.00 ($15.00 for parts & $30.00 for labor)

Sadly, I do. Troy Ind. had a nice display at a recent local gunshow, with a SOPMOD on display. After drooling over it, one of my friends sent out a preban M1A to be converted this spring, and received it last month. To say its performance was a disapointment is an understatement. They are supposed to group into 3 inches at 500 yds. It had trouble doing that at 50 yards. It is back at Troy being overhauled. Jury is still WAY out on this one...I shot one group with it. Pathetic. It does look damn cool, however.

Avenge USA, yep, it's me from the Files. I use the same user name in all the forums I participate in.

Thanks for the compliments on the rifle. The green stock came from Hawk. I want to get one of his fake selector kits for my birch M14 stock soon.

You guys also have to stop showing off those beautiful M1 Garands. Too damn much temptation, and I absolutely MUST resist!!!!

Chiz45, Where'd you get those stocks?

I recently picked up a used tiger stripe that looks identical to your stocks. I'm looking for another. Got any linkage?

Link Posted: 8/17/2003 7:42:47 AM EDT
NAM, chiz45 is a buddy of mine so I can answer your question. From the top, one through six, the second stock is a desert camo stock that was offered by Fred's of Shotgun News. It is a discontinued item. Stocks three and six are creations of Karsten in Salt Lake City. We call them Karsten Mojave as they were made for the Mojave Desert area. If you go to www.battlerifles.com and do a search for Karsten you'll find him. He does awesome stock painting. You have to see his flectarn pattern to believe it. Stock five is the Mogadishu pattern of BHD fame. It was done by skratch at www.battlerifles.com skratch has retired from stock painting. There's another poster at the M14/M1A Firing Line board named Gun Guru that is on a quest to find someone who will do the Mogadishu stock. If you are interested in a Mogadishu stock ask him if he has found a painter yet.

First, Hey! Different.
I have the person. he has the photos and said "no problem". Wont be exact but he said I wont be able to tell the difference {no pun intended} unless I hold the two stocks side by side. This would not be possible without the super assistance from Different. Im am plan on having 2 made. One is mine and the other, we dont know yet. Who knows we might have a business.

For those of us who can`t have folding or retractable stocks, why not produce an updated version of the M14-E2, or Nigerian BM 59 stocks?

ARBob

Thanks for your interest. We perform these conversions on customer's pre-ban rifles and they are legal to own in most states. We offer a post ban conversion with a fixed stock and muzzle brake without a threaded barrel that may be what you are looking for(not pictured).

Here is the pic to keep in the spirit of the thread.

My friend is still awaiting the return of his rifle. I'll be happy to give an honest range report when the rifle is returned. I must say my friend was under the impression this was a "developed" product when he sent in his M1A for conversion.
